Pointless to buy a 3GS Right now? Getting a GREAT deal?

So I was looking into getting the 4 when it comes out and settles down a little bit. I was talking to a friend of mine who works at an apple store and he said he could hook me up with a 16GB 3GS iPhone for $300 brand new. Would it be smart to take this deal? or should I wait it out, and spend the extra 2-300 bucks on the 4? Any input would be nice, Thanks!

Yes without the contract. Im currently with ATT right now but I am not able to upgrade to the 4.0 until sept 2011 unless I wanna pay like $600.

3GS is a great phone, if it satisfies your demands take it, otherwise wait for 4.

yea just get the 3GS for now then you'll be eligible for the i5 at the subsidized price next year.

I wouldn't. You could find ones cheaper than that on CL. I've seen new condition 32gb 3gs selling for $350.
