With there being a huge thread about the new iPhones having yellow displays, there are a lot of posters in that thread claiming this is a big problem and widespread. Since someone that doesn't see this problem on their own phone might not bother to visit such a thread, I think it might be interesting to get a poll of all owners to see if they perceive their phone as being OK or too yellow/unacceptable.

12 PM

Greenish greys in low brightness
Glow effect in blacks with brightness below 100%
Yellowish even with true tone on is not annoying.

Because of the first two, device sent back.

Look at the screens
Look how they shine for you
And everything you do
Yeah, they were all yellow

I came along
I made a phone for you
A Max and Mini too
Look how they shine for you
Yeah, they were all yellow

Apologies to Coldplay ( or should it be “ Goldplay”)

12 Mini - perfect, none of the issues talked about on this forum. But folks will always post about their issues, few in the majority of perfect iPhones (or not recognizing issues) will post about how perfect their iPhones are. I didn't other than to respond to threads like this one.

12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, both look fine to me. Also, I've heard if you do see some yellow-ness at first then it should go away with alittle time. All Apple purchases made from Nov. 10th now have up until January 8th, 2021 to be returned back with no questions.

12 pro max and it looks perfectly fine. No raised blacks, no greenish glow, whites do look a tad warmer compared to my family members' 8 pluses but definitely not yellow. Mine's supposed to be one of the bad ones too- F2 serial, week 45, G9Q panel- so maybe I just got really lucky?

So after 3 days, this poll and thread has drifted to the second page of iPhone threads but the yellow screen thread is still going strong at over 4300 posts and staying at the top of the iPhone forum. Kind of strange given that the voting shows 80% say their iPhone looks fine. I guess everybody in that other thread are the vocal minority.

What I really don't understand is how 80% can be happy with their phone and yet there are many people in that other thread that are having their iPhones replaced multiple times. Are they seeing something the rest of us aren't? Are they just so picky that they will never be satisfied? If they looked at some of our iPhones that we say are fine, would they say they look yellow.

There really is no way of knowing since nobody on here can see another person's iPhone in person. You can't tell anything from the numerous pictures posted.

This is all very curious to me.

I think a lot of it is pickiness, it reminds of that absolute legend that returned 16 iPhones before he was happy lol. I've had OLED screen phones since 2011 till I got my 8+ in 2018, unless you adjust the color temp OLEDs WILL look different than LCDs. It's just the nature of the hardware. For the folks with legitimately "piss yellow" screens- at the factory each screen is calibrated before being installed so my guess is some of the calibration machines are just off.

I have recently switched from iPhone 11 to iPhone 12 mini and these are my personal observations:

- the 12 mini screen indeed looks warmer (more yellow) than that of 11, but it actually feels better for my eyes, straining them less.

- if you prefer a cooler white-blue tone, you can easily achieve it by turning off True Tone in display settings. You should notice the difference straight away.

This is my first ever OLED phone and I am very happy with it. 🖐
