I'm just curious. Yosemite is the first time in recent past that Apple is allowing non-developers to test an OS X pre-release. Even before the public beta launched, many news sites reported that 10.10 has had the biggest install base yet of any developer preview. Is this your first time participating?

Yep, it's the first beta OS software I've ever used, between OS X or Windows.

I don't have it installed, but I've done this before, so it isn't my first rodeo :)

Nope. You could install the Developer Preview of Mavericks the last time around without being registered (I think it started at DP4), so that was my first time using a pre-release of OS X.

Yosemite is running beautifully for me. Very similar to the 2nd beta of Windows 7, which ran like a champ way back when.

This is my first time doing it. I've installed it over Mavericks on my primary machine. I know that it is a ballsy move. But I did make a backup before installing, and any new files created will be saved to my OneDrive. If something goes wrong, then I can install back to my backup and bring in my new files with OneDrive. I am willing to take the risk with Yosemitie for the reward of an awesome working OS upon release.

Yes, at least officially. Back in 2007 I was naughty and pirated one of the DPs of 10.5 to see whether it had HD DVD playback support, but that's all I ever did with it!

Yep. Installed on a second partition on my 2009 MBP which is my secondary machine. Can't wait to put it on my late-2013 rMBP after the release :D

Yes - running on my Late 2013 rMBP, as a daily driver too
so far so good, only a few glitches, came on DP3.
Do have my iPhone 4s running LEGIT iOS 8 beta 4 too, been on since beta 1 - and the continuity between the two works great, only handoff isn't my cup of tea right now.

First Time

I'm still fairly new to the Mac world and this is my first OSX pre-release trial. I installed 10.10 on a new to me used 2012 Air for testing. So far it has been running wonderfully. So well I'm tempted to install on my iMac in I may install in a second partition but I'm concerned with some of the posts that Yosemite causes problems with the original boot.

Nope, 10.0 beta was my first. Great memories of an incredibly slow interface and tons of features not there, but not caring because it was just so so pretty...

Maybe my last time

Not my first time. I began as a black label DVD recipient a few years ago.

If 14A298i proves to be representative of an Apple trend, it will be the end of my interest in seed testing for the company. Already I formally stepped away (un-enrolled myself), I'm now just hanging around to see whether sense prevails before 10.10 is released.

(Neither this black; nor this. More black, and more of a silver lining.)

It is my first time as an OS X beta test, but in the past I did beta test other operating systems (Windows XP, Vista, 7) as well as several applications, most recently OmniFocus 2.

Nope, I've been testing betas and DPs since Snow Leopard and I'm consistently amazed at the degree of polish in them. I've been a Windows beta/RC tester since the NT4 days and they're generally a mess in comparison.

First time testing an OS X pre-release.

Since a very significant amount of my activity is online, the inability to get onto the internet (I have wireless access exclusively), means that my use of Yosemite is compromised.

There was a brief exception last night, when I was able to connect at every access point (including home), took advantage of the opportunity to fire off a problem report through Feedback Assistant. Today we're back to Yosemite not finding any networks. (I'm writing this from Mavericks).

Frustrating to say the least, because even as a non-paid volunteer tester, I wanna do my duty and report, and I wish Apple's OS X development team had a "side door"/"plan b" path of reporting for cases of internet connectivity problems. (And when it's in full release, a large amount of 10.10's user-base will be on portable computers, connecting via hotspots).
