I am really interested in everyone's experience with the reception, however it seems we have thousands of threads about it. I just want a simple question answered to see what everyone is experiencing.

I don't know how effective this poll really is because this reception problem only happens for me when I'm in areas with weaker signal. Otherwise, I cant get it to drop bars no matter what I do. Unfortunately for me, I live and work in an area with weak reception.

That is a valid point that starting reception is key.

For me it is helping just get a broad overview of the problem.

i want to get the iPhone4, but the store by me does not have a display model out to play with so I am trying to get a broad idea of what everyones issues are.

People really need to get a grasp on this reception problem.

It has less to do with the phone and more to do with network. Every single iPhone 4 ever made drops about 20dB due to signal attenuation when held tightly. If you live in a poor service area then that 20dB drop will make the difference and you'll drop calls, etc. Making polls like this will not help you gauge ANYTHING other than what kind of reception areas people are living in.

For example, ask people living in the UK or Japan about the death grip and they'll be more likely tell you it isn't a big problem for them. That's because their networks are much stronger than AT&T's here in the US.

You should at the very least change the question to ask in reference to whatever country you're from.

i went into 2 seperate o2 phone stored in 1 city on satarday, one of the handsets on display had the antenna problem, in the other store they had a handset that didnt have the proble.

So for me if the one i am getting deliverd has the problem i will be returning it for a new one as ive seen a fully working iphone 4!

Holy ****, please educate yourself...

go read a dictionary nerd boy haha. i dont have to spell **** correct just for you :)

No, I was referring to how you seem to believe that there is some kind of defect with the iPhone 4 that causes some to have reception issues over others.

I TRIED DIFFERNT PHONES AND SOME HAD THE PROBLEM SOME DIDNT!

what part of that dont you understand. jesus H Nice .talk about stupid..

In plain english: This 'fix' of ours will actually not fix anything and the only real solution is to return your phone.

I said read the entire thread not just the first 3 posts. The first couple are by people like you who think there's some kind of massive defect going on.

When was I proposing a fix for this?

Actually don't answer that, I'm done arguing with you as well.

Not to argue with you, but I'm in the UK in a full 3G area (Surrey, close to London) - been full 3G here since my Nokia 6280 several years ago. Death gripping my iPhone 4 takes full 3G bars down to a single bar of GPRS signal. A fair drop if you ask me.

Using my phone naturally as a conscious right-handed user causes me none to very little signal loss. As I said, I'm very conscious of how I'm holding the phone at all times which will help anybody.

I'm using no case, no bumper, nothing.

We hated the reception problem not only because it exists ...

Because everybody is talking about the same thing over and over and over and over and.... (count the number of the threads) ... and over again .
