There seems to be a lot of calling for new sizes. After getting used to the iPad/touch do people realize other sizes are preferable? Or is it a vocal minority(grass is always greener)?

XS and L already exist (iPod Touch and iPad), but don't ignore these because they already exist. Consider this as if you now have none of these devices, Which sizes do you personally most want to own.

Poll is multi entry if you would buy more than one size.

So which size do you most want?

Edit: Note the XS size is the iPod Touch, I am not suggesting another iPad model that size. If you Have/Want a touch, include it in your response.

The size.

Sorry poll posting works in two stages. I didn't realize that when you post the poll, it posts the text right away while you are still working on the entries. I thought it would delay the post, till everything is done.

I want wide-screen but your poll does not allow for that option.

Could we not have a 16:9 or 4:3 choice in there also?

There was initial dislike to wide screen due to comments about it being too tall when used in portrait mode. However, there was a poll recently that showed 90+% used their iPad in landscape mode all the time they could, only using in portrait when forced to by a particular app.

wide screen would be better for video and web browsing use.

For me, I'm thinking perhaps 13" 16:9 widescreen (exact same physical height as now, but wider)

Which size do you most want to buy?
XS: (3.5"-4") ____ Ultra pocketable
S: (4.5"-5.5") ___ Somewhat pocketable
M: (6"-8") ______ One handed, but not pocketable.
L: (8.5"-10") ____ More effort, but more screen
XL: (10.5"+) ____ Maximum screen
Is this even serious? Or am I being trolled hard...

How so? It is a very straight forward question. I would really like to know which sizes people would like.

This is a straight size poll. The permutations get excessive if you mix with aspect.

It seems to me that it would better to simply have an Aspect ratio Poll: 4:3, 3:2, 16:10, 16:9 seem to be common choices.

I personally like 3:2 being a fair compromise between Photos (perfect for SLR), A4 paper, movies, comics...

I personally don't like 16:9 for anything but TV.

Seeing as 16:9 is regarded as the new standard these days it seems the only other logical ratio.

Despite what any Apple fans may say.

If the iPad had been made available in both 4:3 and 16:9 ratios by Apple from day one I'm sure many many would have gone for the 16:9 version despite what they may say here ;)

Why would you want a 3.5" iPad? That's an iPod touch..

I did say it already exists as the Touch, in the second line of my post. The sizes that are already covered are XS and L. Touch and iPad.

It is mostly semantics that makes one a Touch and the others iPads.

Maybe some aren't getting this, and that is why Touch size is getting zero votes despite millions of users.

It seems like you would be the wrong one to do a poll on Aspect ratios with your incredible one sided viewpoint.

Current size is great. Wouldn't mind one a bit bigger, but certainly no smaller.

I meant, "probably" it would only be worth either having either of the two normal aspect ratios.

The old 4:3 which has been the most common ratio for screens for the past 60+ years.

Where we get the old 640x680, 800x600, 1024x768, 1600x1200 standard resolutions.

Or the newer 16:9 aspect ratio which has established itself over the past 10 ish years, and to which most modern display devices are made to conform to as then we are all on the "same page" so to speak.

I accept there are a few other formats that camera's use, but I don't think anyone would really regard those as general standards for display devices.

I would just be interested to see how a 16:9 iPad would of sold, and if people here would all of been complaining that it was not 4:3

The form factor is literally perfect to me. I could always use higher res, but no complaints from me.

I have no interest in an iPad any smaller. That's what my iPhone is for.

1024 x 768

I don't care if it's 9" or 10", I'm just not panning around like I have to do on my netbook with 1024 x 600 screen

I actually bought a real iPad, use it and love it. Perfect size to fill the gap between my laptop and iPhone.

The main reason I don't want different size iPads is this forum would be filled with ... Should I get the XL or the Medium, should I get ...

Most of the results make sense. It does seem like Apple made the right choice.

But I am a little surprised not one single person is interested in the iPad Touch.

The poll isn't exclusive, if you want more than one size you could pick touch and iPad size.

I actually would like two devices. A pocket-able (but bigger than touch) and a larger than iPad size (say 11" and 1200 x 800 resolution). The iPad was a little smaller than I imagined when I tried one out.

For me it is about screen real estate and ease on the eye - especially if I am going to be using it constantly. What I don't like about the iPad is the glossy screen. Now if they made a nonglare version about oh say 17" like my MBP then wow....I would be a convert!

What would be the real difference between an iPod Touch and an iPad Touch? I think one of the reasons the iPad has the name it has is because of it's bigger size.

I personally prefer the size that is currently out and while I can see how people would prefer the smaller 7" size that is supposedly coming out I don't think having many different variety of sizes does Apple much good. It seems that they have done well on their existing strategy where they come out with very innovative products every year but not offering them in many different flavors.

Nothing, as I said before, it is merely semantics. This is what seems to be confusing some.

If you have an iPod Touch and are happy with it, I had hoped people would also click that size option as well.

I wouldn't. 16:9 is only good for movies and that's a small part of what I do on the iPad. Books, RSS, browsing the web, photos would all be crap with 16:9. Plus what would happen to all the apps? Also when in landscape the keyboard would fill almost all the screen.

Ahh, right, so iMac's should not be 16:9 then either? Sorry that you don't like than in the format they are now, but I guess they won't be going back to 4:3 now they have moved to wide screen which is more natural for the eyes (nearer the view our eyes give us I recall being talked about back in the early days of the new ratio being launched a number of years ago)

On the keyboard size you mentioned, it would be exactly the same as it is now.
Only that in portrait mode, you would still have an area the size of the current screen clear to work in, but the keyboard would be in the extra space (if you see what I mean)

My monitor I'm using now is 16:9 and I'm viewing a web page.

Admittedly, now the 4:3 format has been decided I don't know if 16:9 could ever be changed to.

The iMac's screen is only in landscape. The iMac doesn't have an on-screen keyboard. You can resize windows on the iMac (I never use pretty much any app full screen).

When typing in landscape if the iPad were 16:9 you'd have the keyboard fill almost the whole screen. In portrait the keyboard would be even more cramped.

And again, what would happen to the apps?
