iPhone 15 Pro Max Poor battery performance of 15 Pro Max (share your battery charts of older phone or new )

Hi all, I got a 15 pro max and have shelved it away because I do not want to use it due to poor battery endurance. I can’t bear to degrade the battery until a stable iOS 17 is actually out. (Ios17.1 would still be buggy)

Disclaimer: all potentially battery draining settings such as Find My, AOD, background refresh, Siri are switched off, and black wallpaper used.. etc and so on settings. No gaming at all, no YouTube streaming at all, no tiktok media , strictly safari browsing on news websites /reddit.

The battery drains 1% every 5 or so minutes, sometimes it gets warm and drain in 3-4 minutes with light using on safari to surf Reddit and macrumour forum.

In YouTuber’s reviews, their 15pm were able to last up to 12hours on continuous screen on usage with browsing, heavy gaming , YouTube, FaceTime etc, but mine is draining battery madly with ONLY SAFARI browsing.


I activated it 3 days ago, but please do not tell me it is indexing or whatever crap it is. My MacBook Air m2 finished indexing in the matter of minutes, thus unless apple made it official that a new iPhone has an indexing status in the screen, pls refrain from using the word “indexing” as it get on my nerves .

My 11 pro is handling much better than my 15pro max. Apologies in advance as I do not have usage chart for my 15pm,

Here is a snapshot of my 11 pro with brand new battery replaced, it is now 38% as of typing. Let’s compare everyone’s chart usage in this thread ..

Have you checked the location tracking? There was a bug that toggled Significant Locations on when it's supposed to be off by default. I've noticed anytime an app uses location tracking, battery drained faster than normal.

1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services
2. Turn Significant Locations off.

It is 17.0.3.

I know that 17.1 is out but I would only whip the phone out when it’s actually stable.

I feel that maybe a17 pro might be the root cause where the battery consumption is constantly high even with light usage.

No I just watched a 17.1 bugs and features video and it mentioned that. 💀

My 11 pro battery as of now. From 49% battery level -> 20% now. Screen time of 57 min + 1 hour + 50 min = 167min.
(This is the steepest gradient of usage on safari, shopping platform etc and occasional non activity) .

29% drained for 167 minutes of screen usage
100% battery should last me 575mins or 9.5 hours of continuous screen-on usage.

And normal people would not be using the phone continuously for 9hours, I would say this old 11 pro of mine performed way better for all day battery, seriously better than my 15 pro max .
