Hi all!

Well, I've jumped ship from Windows (for the first time in my life!). Heard the Macbook was the ideal laptop for students, so decided to buy one for University in September.

Ordered a black macbook, 200gb hdd and 2gb ram (then the iwork, case and contract uplift).

Have to say, can't wait for it!!! Which is why I'm a little shocked at the delivery estimate I've been given:

Estimated Shipping: 02 Aug, 2007
Estimated Delivery: 13 Aug, 2007 - 14 Aug, 2007

At the minute, the shipping method is: Merge in Transit GB

Think there is any chance of this arriving earlier? (I would have thought if Apple used couriers it would be pretty quick i.e. next day - especially as you're spending so much with them?!)

How come it is taking so long, for it to ship on 2nd August and arrive 11 days after??

Think I've read about something like this before as well. Any ideas guys?

Cheers!

There's a reason why it's called "Estimated date of delivery". In my past experiences with Apple, their estimated dates of delivery have been rather generous in scale and I've always received products from them considerably sooner.

Ah I see, I was hoping this would be a case of being very generous (as by courier, 11 days is a long time heh!) but may just be using those dates as a safeguard for themselves (rather than saying we'll deliver it to you tomorrow).

Anyway, fingers crossed on this one :D heh

Keep in mind that Apple orders ship from Shanghai, China, thus making the distance to ship greater. That said, I've always had fast shipping from Apple, even with my MBP (less than a week) and I live in Massachusetts. Shanghai -> Mass in about a week isn't that bad in my view

I ordered a new MB on the evening of July 25th (stock midrange MB) and i live in Canada, and it arrived this morning. Estimated date of delivery was August 1-3. 2 business days to Canada is pretty good in my opinion.

So it seems to me Apple was pretty generous with their delivery times.

You aren't using a stock MacBook either - you have requested a hard drive upgrade.

This takes considerably longer as the MacBook has to be made to your specification. You'd be lucky if it arrived earlier than estimated.

That's strange... I also ordered a stock MB (1099 configuration) on the 25th and the order status page still says "not yet shipped."

Still says:
Ships by: Jul 30 - Aug 1
Delivers by: Aug 1 - Aug 7

Guess I'll just have to wait...
