Is it just me or is the iTunes Music Stores 'Dance' section really rubbish? Some of the albums on the dance front page have been there for yonks and most of them could only be considered 'pop' at best!

For example at the minute in new releases we have 'Crazy Frog - Crazy Hits' This is most definitely 100% junk but I would excuse it if it was classed as pop and not mentioned on the dance page. Other examples include Fatboy Slim, Chemical brothers, Deep Dish, Ministry of Sound compilations. All watered down pop slush!

I also don't understand why there's a 'Reggaeton' section at the bottom.

This is a rant, so don't take anything i've mentioned too seriously. It just feels like iTMS caters a lot more for the Indie/Rock people and that doesn't seem quite fair.

The Dance section should be broken down into more genres. I suggest: Drum and Bass, House, Trance, Ambient, and General. The Pop music should be moved out into it's own 'Pop' music genre. I also think they should make more efforts to add more new dance music.

Does anyone else agree?

I never go to the iTMS for "dance" music - like you say, they don't really have much.

On a related note, if you're a fan of the BBC Radio One Essential Mix, I'll just make it known that I have copies of every single mix ever broadcasted (with the exception of about 4) so if you're after any, PM/e-mail me and I'd be happy to sort you out with some great tunes.

I think quite a few of the genre tags are odd but I haven't even bothered looking in Dance lately since it doesn't seem that exciting.

Have you submitted any suggestions for tracks you'd like to see there? Perhaps the iTMS team just don't have any Dance fans in the office?

I'm available for consulting - where do I submit my resume? ;)
