I'm using Harman Kardon soundsticks.

The play back of CDs, MP3s, DVDs and resident sound files from such as Quicktime is poor. There are clicks and pops and it sounds like the track is speeding up and down.

I also have a 1.33Ghz PowerPC G4 laptop and it's fine with that.

Any suggestions?

I know it doesn't make sense, but it does sound like your computer is too slow.. although it is dual 2.7Ghz?!

Do you have another Mac to plug the sound sticks into to test and see if its the sound sticks or the actual PowerMac. Since they're USB Sound Sticks, seems hard to believe that its a problem with the PowerMac. I don't believe it goes through the PowerMac sound chip when using USB speakers.

Up until just a few weeks ago, Apple sold a Dual 2.7 GHz PowerMac G5 (single core). The current PowerMacs are the newly announced Dual Core PowerMacs.
