I hope this isn't a sign of things to come but after waiting for months to finally order my iMac I did so last weekend. As part of the deal I went for a printer with the £60 rebate offer. The status of the items was showing the iMac ready within 3 business days whereas the printer was 1-2 weeks. After placing the order on the Bank Holiday I phoned Apple the next day to ask if they could split the order which they said they could and would get back to me with confirmation. I've since phoned everyday and each time spoken to someone else who has promised to get back to me with confirmation. Needless to say, it's now Friday afternoon and I've heard nothing. I'm very disappointed with the service I've received so far. I've no problem with them saying that it's not possible to deliver any quicker, it's the lack of a response that's annoyed me. Anyone else experienced this level of poor service? Please cheer me up and tell me it's not all bad, currently my car is dying on me, BT are charging me £100 for visiting my house and telling me it's my fault and worst of all my football team got relegated :( I know the light will shine when it all finally turns up but I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel right now. Impatient Apple Newbie

It'll be worth it once you get your Mac, don't worry. What I don't understand is why they are delaying the shipment of your iMac because the printer isn't available. The day Mac OS X Leopard was available for preorder I ordered an aluminum keyboard and a copy of the OS at the same time. The keyboard came within the next week and my copy of Leopard arrived a few days later on its release date. I don't understand why they would be delaying it.

Well slap me across the face with a wet fish, hours after my post I get the e-mail I've been waiting for. Both iMac and printer are on their way to me as I write although it states estimated delivery date as 8th of June, surely it will be faster that that, do they use mules or something? Anyhow, I'm feeling a touch better now although I'm still disappointed that no-one has the decency to get back to me and explain what was happening. Can't wait!!

well, the margin on the sales of cheap inkjet printers is very low these days. we're talking about £2-£3 at the very low end. A separate delivery for the printer would cost more than that.

Keyboards and software boxes are smaller thus cheaper to ship, and when you pay £20 for an Apple branded keyboard you're giving them a higher margin than what you would on a printer sale.
