I imagine this topic has been exhausted but I am trying to help my in-laws set up their iPad and MBA email thru sympatico.ca (Bell). I think it's POP3 and thus we're running into device syncing issues. Other than creating an icloud.com address for them and forwarding the sympatico.ca email, are there any suggestions to resolve syncing between devices?

Thanks, Devin

Can you not just set-up the sympatico.ca (Bell) email account using IMAP (incoming) & keeping SMTP (outgoing), as that'd sync emails and folders across all devices without any annoying workarounds that are bound to be a bag of hurt somewhere along the line in future.
(contact your ISP, Bell, to get instructions if unsure of what's available & how to set-up correctly on all devices.)

To be honest POP is a bit of legacy protocol for most people's email these days, as most users have several devices they need their mail synced across, hence this is partially why the IMAP email protocol was created in the first place.

Hi Devin - check the Bell email specs HERE - seems like POP3 is the only option for the incoming mail server (likely problematic if trying to sync two different devices); also iOS (iPad) is not listed as supported & Mac support stated goes back to Leopard (not sure what is on their MBA?).

You'll either have to contact them to see 'what' support may not listed on that page to resolve the issues above or suggest that they change email provider? Good luck - Dave :)
