Sorry to open another topic today but my IPad Pro arrived today and I noticed a popping sound in some areas of the screen. It happens near the middle of the display and on some other areas… when you push a finger on the surface and remove it I can hear a clicking or popping sound. yes my hands are clean and screen too. Happens also with the pencil…. I saw some threads somewhere else which states that this problem is around since 2018…. you have to listen closely in a silent room…. Hope it goes away over time…. What I also saw is when you open a blank white page and turn brightness high you can see like air patches under the surface from the screen…. Could be reflections but you can press the with the finger around…. I saw this on all Modells in the store…. Could this be the problem?

Sounds dodgy to me!

Personally i have found a lot of iPads these days come shipped with issues probably due to lower QC to get them out the door, as always if you can live with it keep it if not you can always return it for a replacement

Called Apple today and they send me a replacement. Bad thing is that I have to send my device back first…. Hope the replacement is finally better quality

Yeah sometimes you do get bad eggs although rare, I have had ones with dings, scratches, issues with displays amongst other things in the past.

I think more recently apple have had to lower their QC standards a bit due to covid/lockdowns chip shortages etc and wanting to get their products out of the door

That’s the thing I have noticed once you get into the return cycle with Apple you seem to get a couple of bad eggs one after the other, been there myself… I think these days with the lower QC no device is perfect, but it’s all on your personal tolerance level on what you will accept/not accept, some forum users accept a ding or 2 out the box some don’t, some accept a bit of display bleeding some don’t… overall though I would say about 80% of the time you do get a pretty much flawless device.

Hmm. My experience with Apple products is that the ones with perfect QC are rare. No trolling, just personal experience. When shelling out top dollar for a premium branded product which is reputedly the best on the market you shouldn't have to cross your fingers, pray and hope for the best that you get a good one.

Got my replacement today! The popping sound does not happen with the new device. BUT battery came with 98,5% health out of the box…. Problem? iPad came with a charge of 92% and I charged it too 100% checked health again and now still 98,5%…. Another problem you see on the picture. A small spot where the Alu is damaged…. Very very small…. I think I will keep it. That’s no big deal. When I change agin maybe there will be something else…. How do you guys see this? I mean battery health and the small spot? The small spot is under the camera frame.

Apple quality control has been going downhill for a while now but when you confront them it's always "within acceptable tolerance" so you will have to put up with it or exchange it and risk getting a worse one.

i will keep it. Finally after an M1 returned to Amazon and a m2 returned to Apple. What do you think about battery health? Hope it is 100% or above after the first full charge

Well, since there are other imperfections with it and you have decided to keep it, I think the battery issue can be overlooked. At least it's not 92% or 85%. At 98%, it might make no difference in your actual experience even if you use it vigorously for 2-4 years, if not more. So I'd say if you can overlook other issues with the device you might as well overlook this one as well.

Thank you very much for your advice. Your absolutely right. the unit before my replacement was similar except the charge out of the box was not 92% it was something around 60% charge if I remember correctly… I first looked in coconut battery and the healh was worse than my replacement now. I charged it, checked again with coconut and the health was now over 100%. Hope to see this with my replacement too. Wish me luck that my replacement has more battery health :)

Yeah unfortunately you have entered the return cycle with apple 😂 happens with me from time to time, you just never know whether you’re going to get a rock solid perfect device or a bad egg…. Personally I wouldn’t accept the replacement with the ding below the camera but that’s me… i am a bit OCD about those sorts of things.

Yes 😀 return cycle game
But I don’t go for a replacement this time. This time this Ding don’t bothers me much…. It’s on the back and barely noticeable. Believe me I’m also a special snow flake for findings these flaws 😅 everything bothers me BUT I’m more afraid what I will get then what I have now in front of me. My IPad is finally good (except the ding on the back). And I want to paint over the Christmas holidays because I don’t have to work then. Not much time left for more return games. After Black Friday the stock is empty 😅

I ran Coconut Battery on both my iPad's today and both iPad's were off by a few % points with the CB app. I charged both iPad's to 100% with no problems.

Yeah I have had to learn to deal with my OCD for slight marks on apple products of late as none of them are 100% flawless unfortunately.

My last return was an iPad but it had 3 nicks on the back and one on edge next to the bezel also, that was an instant return for me, but my iPhone 14 Pro Max has a slight mark on the stainless steel but I looked over it as I always have a case on my phone anyway… it all about personal tolerance with those sort of things.
