What's the easiest and best way for me to access my music and 720p movies over wifi, 3G, and edge?

I have an external harddrive plugged up to my time capsule and my apple tv streams content at home.

I have an Apple TV, 2 iPhones, 2 MacBooks, TimeCapsule, and 2TB LaCie harddrive.
I use AT&T U-verse and a 2-wire modem.

Air Video app is great for movies but doesn't do music. Stream to Me app does both I believe. Setup for both is very easy--each has server you install on your home computer so you don't have to manually configure your router for port forwarding.

I don't have a Mac Mini to install a server app like Plex Media Server.

I'm trying to find out if it's possible to access my hard drive that is attached to time capsule.
I figured since my time capsule is a router it too has an IP address, so I could manually assign an IP address and I could access the the hard drive somehow.

I was thinking you'd run plex on your MacBook and stream to your iPhone.

I'm not aware of how to achieve the setup your looking for but others might be willing to help you out.

As Tilpots suggested I don't think it's possible without connecting to a computer on your home network, same a if your were streaming to your Apple TV. I think you need something to act as a server and the TC/external HDD can't handle it on its own.
