Port question...

Hiya. I'm looking for an alternative to Port 65535. I need to put a port into a Widget and it wont accept 65535 cos it is already in use. Anybody help? I'm really not good with Port stuff. Dont really understand it...

You could pick any port but.... But just to be sure you don't conflict with anyone’s port, if this is going to be available for the public go here http://www.iana.org/assignments/port-numbers and try to pick one that is not used.

And you can't pick a port below 1024 unless you are root. To find your open ports, you can use netstat.

Are you trying to select a port for listening? You should know that 65535 is within MacOS X's ephemeral port range (49152-65535) and is used for outbound traffic.
