hey guys,

well i just bought portal 2 but i heard and can't figure out how that the game can't be played on Lion if this is true what do i do?

I have portal 2 running on Lion I use my steam account on my Mac and it runs just fine.... :D

Well what am I doing wrong ?

It would help if you actually gave us more detailed information. What computer are you trying to run it on ? Are you trying to run it through Steam or is it a retail copy ? What happens when you try to run it ?

well i insert the disc and i already installed it but then i go to steam's website and i don't know what to do from there

Well the retail disc has nothing to do with Steam. They are two separate ways of getting the game. I got mine through Steam by redeeming a free code and downloading it. If you bought it on a retail DVD you shouldn't even have to run Steam and go through it. Just install the game and start playing. Steam is just another separate delivery method. Also you didn't answer my question about what computer and what specs you're trying to run it on.

If you haven't already, you need to install Steam and create an account. Then you need to open Steam and activate Portal 2.

It's a bit of a pain, but Steam is required even though you bought the physical disk. The disk pretty much just saves you a few hours (or days for some of us...) of downloading the game.

NOPE.

1. Install steam
2. Create account
3. Use code on DVD box to install in steam account

Ah OK. I wasn't aware that's how it worked with the retail versions of Valve games. Thanks for the correction.

The DVD is there to reduce data that you need to download (and to go on your shelve), but the game is still connected to the user account and can not be resold.

Different concept but due to plenty of steam sales I have no problem with it.

Fair enough. Make sure you keep your steam updates going though. I'm sure there will be plenty of them since OpenGL has been vastly improved for Lion.

just like any other game.. if you bought it on DVD, install it and run it like the directions that come with it tell you how to. It should end with a Portal2.app in your Applications that you run... Steam is a bit easier to keep up with... not sure why people buy DVDs anymore unless they just don't have a mediocre to decent internet connection.

Works fine on Lion for me....but I can't seem to get my PS3 controller to work with Portal 2!!

Anyone have any insights?
