Other Possible Final iPhone 12 Specs

6.7 is absurdly large. I get it, it’s going to include some more ‘advanced technologies’ with a larger display, but are consumers really willing to carry a phone that large, given how large the ‘Pro Max’ is already? I think there has to be a tipping point where you draw the line where these phones increasingly become larger every year, and doesn’t come with out the cost of the added weight/size in your pocket.
That iPhone 12 6.1” is looking like my preferred option. I’m used to a big phone now and it seems to be the sweet spot in that line up.
Indeed, it’s a bit too close to an iPad mini for my liking.
I mean it’s still smaller than the S20 Ultra and people are buying that.
I think I may downsize this year as I thought the iPhone X footprint was perfect.
Doubt we’ll see a notchless iPhone so soon. Apple has clearly had a habit of amortizing new design costs over at least two or three generations; so I expect the 2020 design to carry forward to at least 2021. 2022 might break the three-generation design cycle if notchless is possible by then.
I was thinking the same. That is a super crowded lineup. Since one of the 12 models will be 6.1" I think they'll drop the XR.
Or Apple could keep the XR instead of doing an iPhone 9+.
Nonetheless, it is definitely crowded, but still make sense, lineup.
It’s a difficult situation for Apple as they’ve introduced a mainstream iPhone XR/11 at a certain larger size. This means they now have to offer an update within this size to satisfy demand. They couldn’t just release a 5.4” and keep an older model in the lineup as it leaves those already with an XR/11 with no viable upgrade unless they buy a smaller device.
The obvious option would be to drop the iPhone 11 and keep the XR as the lower tier option like they did with the iPhone 7/8. Let’s remember the iPhone 12 (5.4”) and 12 (6.1”) are going to be the iPhones in most demand due to price point. This is really the market they need to cater for the most.

I’ll be waiting for the 6.7 reviews. My 11 PM is my first big phone and I can never see going down less than 6.5 so my next option is only going to be 6.7 in 2021 when ready to upgrade. I hope it’s a little a little longer, just not any wider.

I have the 5.8" 11 Pro. If I decide to upgrade, it'll definitely be either the 6.1" or 6.7" Pro models. If the new design of the 6.7" somehow weighs less than the 11 Pro Max, that is the one I probably will settle on.

Yeah it’s rather absurd at 6.7” IMO and ceases being a mobile phone at that point. It’s more in line with being a small iPad. My iPhone 8+ is pushing the boundaries of being just about portable and that poses problems in many situations, like sitting in the car or wearing jeans and short with normal sized pockets.
I think the iPhone 12 6.1” is about the sweet spot in this lineup and hopefully will have all the important features whilst keeping it at a sensible price point. I know it’s all pointing at OLED but I do hope we get one last release with an LCD. That’s my preference anyway.
For me, even my XS is too big. I would've prefer an iPhone 6 size but with a full screen instead like the XS. Maybe finally I get it this time with the next 5.4" iPhone, too bad it's not the Pro model but I can live with that.
I hope Apple releases a 6.7” device. I have the XS Max and many times I wish it was bigger. I have 0 issues with using it and even as a woman I rarely carry a purse. My phone is always in my pocket and mind you I wear stretch jeans. If they offer the other sizes that means Apple will have something for everybody.
I think that’s the important point we all need to remember. We used to be excited about ‘the new iPhone’ but those days are gone as we now have a ‘range of iPhones’. To choose from. It’s great really as we get to choose the best phone based on our own interpretations. It was only a few years ago on here we’d all have the same opinion on what is the best phone etc, but now it’s so varied due to the choices available. I think there’s better consumer satisfaction these days and it’s good to see Apple have reacted to that.
