Seems like iPhoto doesn't open anymore during sync if you haven't taken any new photos on your iphone... if I remember correctly iPhoto opened every time you plugged the iphone in.

I'm not sure if this is a fix or I'm just going nuts... Could also be a fix in iPhoto '08 that I ignored. Can anyone on 1.0.1 confirm this?

I'll try it when I get home.

I actually set my preferences in Image Capture to not automatically open iPhoto when a camera was detected because I hated how iPhoto would launch everytime I docked my iPhone! :D

It'd be nice to undo that!!

it didnt open everytime you synced it, only when you had taken new pictures with it (and didnt delete them)

Which is how I use my iPhone (use it to take pictures and I leave them on there, even though I already copied them into iPhoto), so yes, it opened everytime I synced it. ;)

Yeah, Hate to say it but it still opens automatically.

Good observation though.
Poop.

I wonder if this is a fix that was made in iPhoto '08 then... Used to bug the hell outta me that it would open and just say "no items to import". Oh well Change my title to "new feature in iPhoto '08!" hehe

A good way to get around this problem if you still want to keep pictures that you've taken with your iPhone on the phone is this:

Allow iPhoto to import all photos AND delete them from phone.
Create a smart album called iPhone, the parameters should be "Taken With: iPhone"
In iTunes, select the iPhone album as one of your iPhoto albums to be synced.

Now, everytime you connect your iPhone, the pictures will be taken off, added to iPhoto and put back on your iPhone, so they'll always be there to show off, but iPhoto won't pop up unless there are new ones to add.

This is almost what I have done. I put a time limit on the smart album - photos taken with iPhone that are not older than two months:) I take a lot of pics:)

Then there is no "bug", it is suppose to do that!
Just like your digital camera, if you plug it up and dont delete the pictures once they are imported iPhoto will come up every time you plug it up!
