My iMac's hard drive has always been loud. Recently it has started freezing a lot and lagging, especially when playing games, and it all around seems to be generally slower. My niece was leaning on the front of my desk and it tipped forward, and then slammed back--and so did my iMac. I don't know if that damaged the hard drive further, but it concerns me that that did, even though it seemed to have no effect. It passed the S.M.A.R.T. evaluation. It's a Mid 2010 i3 with the 500GB HDD. Should I try my luck and take it into the Apple Store, or just hope a software update fixes it? I need to hurry up and decide because my warranty expires in early December.
