Possible Heating/Fan Fix For Windows

I am currently in the process of trying to install XP on my MBP and I was just doing some thinking about what can be done regarding the overheating due to lack of fan control. While the main reason for this is probably the overcompensation on the CPU's part for the lack of drivers for the ATI GPU, and this is something that will eventually be fixed, how about using a fan control utility? I was thinking something along the lines of Speedfan, a freeware util. I have it runnign on my windows box and it works just fine, you can adjust fan speeds and whatnot.

I am not sure if this is something that would be supported by the particular MBP board, however, the board is obviously able to control its own fan speed via the OS or what not if it runs especially hot with no fan on XP, so I assume that either this program or another would fix the problem. I'll test once I hopefully get XP up and running on my MBP and let you all know, in the mean time if anyone tries this or has tried it please let me know how it worked out.

I don't think overheating is really an issue. The laptop's fans are controlled by both software and hardware. In case the software malfunctions (or not present in the case of booting into Windoze) the hardware control takes over and prevents the laptop from overheating. I haven't heard of a case yet where heat was an issue.

It do is a problem, at least for me. I am wondering wether there is a fix found yet?

Edit: use smcfancontrol to set the speed is osx then boot into xp

How can Apple advertise that it can run windows when the hardware / software bugs are clearly not sorted out to the point where someone can run windows as well as a normal PC running windows. My friend tried XP on his macbook and said it felt like it was going to melt because it was so hot....

What exactly is the problem? I use Bootcamp 2.0 and XP SP2 with no issues. The fans spin up as temps hit around 70C, cool the system off, and spin back down. I'm able to game for hours on my SR MBP without overheating.

install input remapper in windows and move the fan sliders to 3000. i find that 3000 RPM gives cool operation while running quiet enough.

Well im start think i sell my imac and my macmini and buy the new DELL XPS m1730

And no have heat troubles like all intel macs runing windows.

making that you decrease the life of your cpu, hd and all internal componets.

Fans only start work faster at 70 segress lol, fns just jump dfrom minimum speed to maximum......that is the trouble with all apple systems..... when fan start work your HD CPU, GPU, and all is abslutly high temp, fans start , put cpu aroun 42 degres and cicle start again.....

If you think that not cause trouble for all hardware in your machine,you stay on wrong way..... that high temps not reach the limit of CPU of 100 degres on core 2 duos, but taht change all time from 40c to 70c all time just acelearte future failures in your hardware, not its normal cpus work on that way.

If you check under OSX, you can see the tempreature allways is stable, under widnows no, te temperatire reach 70 degres, and thengo down and cile start over and over again.....


I really suprised for this BAD WORK of fans under vista or xp......

I test thsi and happen and imacs, macbooks, mbp and minis....

Really amazing apple not fix this real trouble yet !!

And is really ugy the fnas run very low speed, machine start go to high temps, fans start work aroudn 70 to high speed high noise, and then go to minimal speed.
