So my mom brought up my cracked iPhone problem after admitting that selling items on craigslist wasn't going so well (thanks to the douche who didnt call me back after "15 minutes"). Anyways, she said she's possibly eligible for an upgrade (as she just hangs on to the basic LG flip phone). So our question is if its possible that she can upgrade to the 3G, and keep the LG flip phone and I can sell the cracked one?

Also, it's correct that 2.2.1 on the 3G is unlockable & jailbreakable? Because I'm going to need to unlock, I don't need the features on 3.0 so I can hold off until the jailbreak release.

Well, what will we have to pay for? I take it getting it for free seems too easy.

I think if you're available for an upgrade it's 199.00 for the 8 gig and 299.00 for thee 16 gig, but I think you can get a refurbished from Apple or even Best Buy for a lot cheaper.

Yeah, I just checked and they're going for $100. I finally got someone interested in the iPod so if I can get that for $100 I'm good.

Will my mom still keep her old phone though?

She should. If its eligible for an upgrade then that means she has paid off the subsidized portion of it and she now owns it.

Question, my current iPhone is unlocked, so would the refurbished one have the new baseband on it making it impossible to unlock?

Most likely. I would almost guarantee that they put the newest software on it, which would be 2.2.1 with the new baseband.

Pretty sure it will have the new 2.2.1 update. Although some people are getting 2.2 with their phones. Its all a matter of luck I guess:p

Should have figured it wouldnt be that easy.

-Went to the AT&T store, they swear they never sell refurbished iPhones. They tell us to go to Wal-Mart.

-Wal-Mart swear they never sell refurbished phones. Tried Best Buy.

-Best buy sells refurbished phones.....for $150... When I asked where the hell did the extra $50 come from, all I got was a "I dont know, thats just what we sell."

-Tried to order one online from AT&T...they want to force me into another plan.

Is there ANY PLACE that JUST sells a REFURBISHED iPhone with no ********?

The problem is they wont give me the phone. They claim I have to get another plan, so whats the point of the upgrade then?
