Well, I told my parents that tax-free day in MO was August 6 (day after my birthday) and I joked about how we should go over there and get a Mac Mini. To my surprise, my mom took it seriously. She said it would be most of my Christmas present too. That I wouldn't be so mad about because so far I have everything I want. The Mac Mini would be my Mac "performance" machine.

To get to the question - Are there chances of new Mac Minis being revealed at WWDC the next day? Are they going to use the Core 2 Duo chips?

If not, would there be any upgrades to the Mini at all?

Don't worry about it. Firstly, the upgrades would most likely be minor anyway. Secondly, if you're purchasing the computer at an Apple store, Apple has the protection plan where they will give you an upgrade to any new announcements made within a couple of weeks of purchace. Buy the computer, and if you need, you can always go back the next day with the unopened box, and get the newly upgraded models.

Always a chance.
Nobody knows.
If you want to be sure, buy the Mini, but don't open it. If you buy from Apple online or the Apple Store, you have (10 or 14, can never remember) days to return an UNOPENED product for full refund

Beat me to it.

Thanks CanadaRAM and gco212. I think if updates came out, my parents wouldn't go back the next day just for the Mac Mini because it's a 1 1/2 hour drive and they both work. :( Too bad I can't drive yet. Oh well. Thanks again!

i wish there was a VAT free day in the UK. everything 17.5% cheaper. hell yeah.

MacBook Pro for £548 on UK-HE? I'd buy ten! (well, probably not, but one. Because one would be all i could afford. but still, i'd be able to afford one!)

I've never heard of this plan before, are you sure?

I have never heard of this "protection plan" either.....in my experience your are S.O.L if you buy something and a new model comes out the next day.

Me neither, at best they will prorate you the difference in price within 10 days. The moment you break the seal on your box, even if Steve Jobs goes cockoo and admits on stage for selling shoddy computers with jacked up prices the very next day you don't even have a leg to stand on.
