I have a MacBook from the first week of release. It was always dead silent and never whined or MOODed until I installed 10.4.7. The Moo is really incredible, and it just kept repeating.

Anyway, here is the fix that Apple gave me...

Disconnect power.
Remove battery.
Hold down power button for more than 5 seconds.
Reinsert battery and reconnect power.
Boot.

So far, so good. They told me that this resets the power management system.

I will post again if it fails. For anyone who has this MOO problem, you might give it a try, especially if you developed the problem with 10.4.7

40 minutes later, driving cores hard. No MOO.

It was incessant before (after installing 10.4.7), and really quite loud and annoying. I first heard it from across the room with the TV on.

At least for me, I think this fix has worked!

Please, those of you who have MacBooks that were born mooing, I really want to see if it helps all of you. I felt like an idiot holding down the power button with no power attached, and that is why I asked what we were actually achieving, which is when the woman told me that it would reset the power management system.

I pray for all of you with moo problems that this works because I now know how terrible the incessant mooing actually is.

1 hour and no Moo. My Moo is gone. Others? Please try this and report back. Bless Apple if they have found a fix, even if it only works for some of us.

haha, yeah, it's funny until it actually happens to you, eh? I thought the same thing. :)

I can't try it now because I'm at work (and using my laptop), but I'll def. do it tonight and post back here.
