Hello

I work at a certain Canadian retailer (I wont say which).

Today a customer called to ask about the stock of the 2.0GHz Macbook, anjd when I cheched i noticed that it was on clearance!

I dont know what this means, but tomorrow IS Tuesday!

Anyways, just a heads up.

LOL.

I highly doubt it, however.

The release family tree will go like this:

Final Cut - Next Month

iPhone - June

Leopard - June

iMacs & Macbooks - June/Summer (plus.. it logically can only be updated AFTER Leopard.. or probably at the time of Leopard's release. There has to be something upgrade to, and not just a hardware refresh. But Leopard and Macs may very well be at one event, unless that's all too much. Dont forget Santa Rosa.) Do I hear a whisper of black iMacs?

iPod - For christmas (when the iPhone's thunder has stopped roaring)

My $.02 plus tax

Well all I know is that at my store all 3 models of MacBook have been discontinued. We have none on order and they are we no longer replenished.

You can say all you want about a release timeline, but thats just the facts brudda!

My cousin works at best buy. I was going to get a MacBook from him the other day, and when he looked in the system it was discontinued. This was about a week ago or so. So who knows. I'm holding out until I see what they are doing.

I'm sorry, but if I wanted a new Macbook (which I do, but I want a Macbook Pro more) I would be very upset if Apple had released it yesterday/today.
Why, you ask? because it wouldn't have half the upgrades it can get in a few months time. The Macbook, Macbook Pro and iMac will get updated only after Intel releases the Santa Rosa chipset, otherwise they really don't have anything to upgrade to. It's not like you can go out and buy a Dell or something that is any faster than a Macbook Pro. Sure, it might have a better graphics card, but it is likely to have a slower CPU. Also, the new graphics cards for both the Macbook and MBP have not been released yet, being the X3000 for the MB, and probably some version of DX10 compatible card for the MBP, hopefully the X2600, to be released apparently in a month's time. The MB/MBP cannot be upgraded when the hardware to do so doesn't yet exist.

THIS is why at least the Santa Rosa Macbook Pro will almost certainly be announced and released in SJ's keynote at WWDC. Not before, and hopefully not after.

I know it won't be the santa rosa chipset since that is still a ways away from being public, but it appears they are up to something. It sounds like multiple retailers have deleted the macbook out of their system. Apple surely isn't going to wait months while they have no MacBooks available.

The 12" MBP "Flash" will replace the MB. Why sound so definite? To trace the development of ludicrous urban legends....

Well they did it because they KNEW you were going to do this. Which is NOT a valid purchase under the employee discount....

Tracey.... former BB Admin - you know, the one that investigated the employee purchase report every morning and loved it! :D

No rumor here folks,

BestBuy in Canada simply stopped selling apple laptops. If you want a mac laptop, you'll need to get it from Apple, or Future Shop (company owned by BestBuy, but sells different product).

The reason I like Future Shop over Apple is due to their return policy. Just like Apple, you can return your hardware within 2 weeks time. Unlike Apple, you don't have to pay the 10% restocking fee.

Future shop also tends to sell Macs at 50->250$ below Apple prices!

Um, the Apple online store has MB's in all flavors available for shipping w/in 24 hours.

Why doesn't anybody ever bother checking the Mothership?

Yeah but Apple has MUCH more in reserve than ANY retailer!

For example, we only ever had 3 of each AT MOST of any mac product in store.

So they could be discontinued, but apple will NEVER admit it until the day the new model ships.

While supplies last we can get you a macbook in 24 seconds!! They're still discontinued though!

Therefore your point is not valid!!
