Hi all,

We're about to start decorating our office at home and one of the things I'd like to get into the project is getting an AE in there.

What I'm trying to get my head around is what I need to achieve what I want and even if it can be done.

Here's what I want to achieve:

  • Have the ability to stream music from "i" devices or PC to AE (I know this can be done as we currently have an AE in the living room connected to an amp).
  • Also be able to listen to our DAB unit (Revo AXiS) through same speakers.

Here's a pic of the DAB's audio connections:

That's it really, I know it sounds simple on paper, but I know from experience these things never are!

I just need to understand if it can be done, what type of speakers & connections I need I guess.

Cheers. :)

I *think* I may have answered my own question...

As you can see in the picture, the Revo has an "Aux In" port, which is a 3.5mm connection.

So-am I right in thinking the AE will take either an optical lead with a 3.5mm adaptor (that's how I have the AE in the living room connected to the amp), or a standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm analogue lead, that I can then connect to the Revo, select "Aux Input" and listen to the music that's being streamed to the AE?

That sounds far too good (and simple) to be true. :D

That should work, only one way to find out though, and not a costly or overly hard exercise to perform!

Good point.

I'll either:

  • Replace the AE in the living room with an Apple TV, which will give me the option to also stream photos in there as well as music.
  • Just grab a Wireless N AE refurb from the Apple store for just under £60 delivered for the office.
