I have downloaded some .dmg files to my pc, and do not have a burner in my mac. Is it possible to burn these images on the pc in anyway? Anyone have any clues?
Open up Disk Copy and go to File->Convert Image. Select the .dmg file, and convert it to a "DVD/CD Master". You will end up with a .cdr.dmg file. Rename it to .iso and copy it across to the PC. Open up Nero or Easy CD or whatever and choose to burn an image, and point it at the .iso file.
Note that I've never tried this, but I believe it'll work.
Yea u can still burn a DMG with windows, windows just wont know what to do with the file......(if u try to open it, it will say pick a program to open this file with....)
The .DMG extension was also once used as a flag for damaged original files (or truncated data clusters) that were found and stored as a single archive copies. I can't remember what utility created these files, but there my be some vestigial associations with in Windows, so watch out! The .dmg extension stood for DaMaGe. The repaired files retained their original extensions. This might not help, but it adds to the knowledge base.

how do you do that? As in what programs do you use to burn in on windows? I'm having major problems with this. I've tried the converting it to an .iso file first method. As the file is on my pc, i have to transfer it to my mac first via FTP. Somehow, it must have corrupted the file because when i try to convert it using Disk Copy, some error about unable to verify image comes up (i think is a problem with the checksum).
is there any way at all i can simply burn it on a windows using windows program??
please help
