I got a replacement Apple Watch Series 5 (stainless steel cellular 40 mm) a couple of months ago. Can I determine the production date from its serial? It's a 12 digit serial number, and the online tools say the 4th digit of 'N' means it was manufactured in 2014, which is clearly incorrect. Apple Watch Series 5 didn't even come out until 2019.

Serial number is GQ2N2xxxxxxx

Apple uses random product serial numbers now. It’s been a long time since possible to decipher serial numbers.

I understand that, but since when though? The reason I ask is because Series 5 launched over 5 years ago, way back in 2019.
