iPhone Possible to "Downgrade"? Other options?

Hi all,

I just was given an iphone 4s from my mom, she got a new iphone and doesn't want it anymore. Problem is, she let apple install ios 8 without knowing how much it would suck on an iphone 4. I want to get ios 6 back on this phone but obviously my mom didn't save her SHSH Blob before she let the phone update to ios 8. All the methods I'm finding require that you have a previously saved shsh blob from an earlier version of your phone. With ios 8 the battery life is about 3 hours which makes the phone basically unuseable. Is there someway to undo some of the damage apple has done to this phone?

Wow that's really terrible news. Is there anything I can do to improve the phones speed/ operation / battery life? In the meantime I guess I'll just have to wait for someone smarter than me to come up with a hack to make this phone useful again. Thanks.

Your thread states an iPhone4S and then you state it's an iPhone4.
If it is an iPhone4 (and not the 4S) there is hope for you.

Sorry I should have been more specific in my post. It is a 4S as mentioned in the title. I assume from your post this means there is no hope for me?

An iPhone 4 can't run iOS 8, and if it's running iOS 7 it still isn't possible to downgrade to iOS 6.

No hope. If it isn't running iOS 8.1.2, do update to the latest version because it will make it a bit quicker.

If I were you I would jailbreak it and install tweaks that kill stock features to conserve cpu/gpu and ram. I'm thinking NoMotion, NoLiveClock (can't remember the exact name), a tweak disable parallex (not sure if this is even on stock 4s devices), etc etc. I would look to install tweaks that disable non critical stock features and hope for the best.

Also if the battery is bad, I would personally replace it or get it replaced if I really needed to. Not sure how useful that'll be though co spidering this is most likely the last major iOS version that device will receive. Not sure how long you plan on using it.

Thanks for the help everybody. Maybe I'll jailbreak it and try the tweaks as mentioned, seems reasonable enough, especially if I'm stuck with ios 8. After doing some reading online it seems like even with ios 8 my battery should last longer than it does. It probably needs to be replaced but I'll have to think about if its worth it. Probably I'll end up doing what Apple wants me to do and get a newer phone. Oh well too bad, a perfectly good phone crippled by an unnecessary OS. Sigh.

Like others said. It's not possible to downgrade a 4s even if you had saved shsh blobs.
The battery might be old and worn out. Might be wise to have it checked out and replaced.
It shouldn't last only 3 hours on normal use.
