Carrier Possible to get an early upgrade on Verizon?

I'm so ready to get a new phone. I already know I'm getting the Moto X and my upgrade is on April 21st, but I want it NOW!I don't wanna wait 3 weeks!

Those of you on Verizon, have you been able to get your upgrade early? Do you think I'd have any luck if I called Verizon or went in store and asked them to give me my upgrade early? I'm sure if I did I'd have to pass on Motomaker and get a woven style but I'm fine with that.

My recommendation would be to take advantage of Verizon Edge. Verizon Edge allows the user to upgrade early if the user is in good standing in paying his bill on time, has been a member for over 2 years. You will pay $100 up front for the device. You will give them your current phone and they will give you your Moto X. For more information let me know.

VZW does not offer early upgrades, and probably more so now, as they'll want to move you onto the EDGE program.

Look at the details of that program, it may be a good fit for you

I called them and explained my 4S battery had become basically unusable, it was dying very quickly. I was less than a month from my upgrade date, but my upgrade date was the day before my wife's due date. So I called Verizon and explained that I needed a new phone sooner because no one wanted my wife to go into labor and me not being reachable because my phone died. They very happily processed an order for a new phone right on the phone, and explained that if you were within 4 weeks of an upgrade they could usually give it to you earlier.

Don't be surprised if EDGE ended that policy, but it's worth a try.

I might be overlooking something, but I can't see how the Edge program is a good thing. It looks like a device rental program to me. If they would get rid of the part where you have to give the phone back to them it would be more appealing.

Have you considered jumping ship to another carrier like TMobile? It's an option if you want an early upgrade and they have their JUMP program if you like to upgrade 1 or 2 times a year. Nm if you are unwilling to jump to another carrier like TMO.

It's relative to what you're comparing it to. If you get a new phone every 12 months it is a good deal. With Edge you have to pay 50% of the full price to be able to get another phone, which you will have done after 12 months. If you had bought it for full price without a contract, you might be able to sell it yourself for 50% or more of the full off contract price in 12 months, but it isn't a guarantee and I find that to be a hassle when I can just walk into the Verizon store and walk away with a new phone with Edge.

They charge you 30 dollars for a new phone (if you don't buy it outright) but they then knock 20 dollars off your bill, so it only goes up by 10. You can then upgrade to a new phone in six months (you'll have to had paid 50% of the phone price). If you want to keep it, then its yours and you don't have to pay the 30 bucks any longer.

The thing is most people sell their phones, or trade them in anyways, so you're not losing out.

You can actually upgrade every 30 days now, but you can't keep the phone unless you've paid the full price. To get a new phone after paying 50%, you have to trade in the phone.

I honestly don't see a downside to it. If you can get more money for the phone when you're ready to trade it in, you can always pay it off early and sell it yourself and you will have paid no more for it than if you bought it for full price in the first place. Actually you will have saved money since you get a discount on your plan for using Edge.

If you keep a phone for two years then you do save money by buying it on contract.
