With a MBP, I'm curious if it's possible to install a game on an external 7200 HD, connected with 800 firewire, rather than installing it and running it on the MBP's internal hard drive. Mostly I want to do this for HD space reasons, and so I can only play games when at home (not at school or in the library  ). If it's possible, would the performance suffer?

I run WoW on my older Powerbook G4 from an external FW400 drive, and it actually seems to run better, possibly due to the 7400RPM. So if your MBP has the 5400RPM drive I'd give it a try.

I do it with my external USB2 7200rpm 320gb. Its slower than my internal 2.5" 7200 and I think its even slower than my 5400rpm internal.
Firewire would probably be faster, but I wouldn't recommend USB2 HDD's for anything other than storage and low data applications.
