macOS Possible to paste coloured code from IDE into Notes app?

I've tried pasting coloured code from VS Code or other IDEs into Notes app but obviously it doesn't work since the colouring is done via a theme. However when I paste from other sources on the net the coloured text does get pasted. I guess it's because html gets translated into Notes but other sources are not html so it won't work.

Any way to hack this?

TextEdit accept coloured code. Does this help?

Try using the menu option Edit -> Paste and Retain Style.
