Ok, so i got an iPhone on a prepaid plan and somehow the guys at ATT could not add unlimited medianet for this month which means i will be charged by the Kb (1 cent per Kb) for accessing their EDGE network. Is there anyway i can prevent my iPhone from accessing the EDGE network? I have noticed that once in a while, although i am in a WiFi zone, it still accesses EDGE. I know this because, i get a status message giving me info about my account balance.

So, is there anyway i can completely turn off EDGE for this month? I have set it to be renewed from the next month but don't want to end up paying for accidental EDGE charges this month.

Advice?

Thanks.

Don't use safari or email for the month.

There is no way I know of to disable edge, unless you turn on airport mode, which turns off wifi as well.

This doesn't sound right, I would call them again till I found someone to fix this.
They made it mandatory to buy the package with unlimited data, so if they screwed up it is on them or they never should have activated your iPhone.

I did, they said they couldn't do anything about it till the next cycle. I can't just add 20 bucks media net unlimited now. The other option they gave me was to pony up a whole month's payment in advance i.e $66 (including taxes), but i have limited phone functionality so i don't see any use of paying up!
