iPhone Possible to Restore JB iPhone 5 Without Updating?

I have an jailbroken iPhone 5 that I'd like to restore the firmware on in order to get my carrier unlock activated, but I'd also like to keep my jailbreak. Strangely, it's been extremely hard to find information on whether or not it's possible to do so without going to the latest firmware.

Anyone know if it's possible to update my 6.0.2 to 6.1 (the only version I have saved SHSH blobs for)? I kind of think the answer is "no, not possible" but maybe I've overlooked something. When I try it on iTunes, with TinyUmbrella's TSS server running, I get a type 11 error, and then I get stuck in a reboot loop until I kick it out with redsn0w.
 
No. The iPhone 5 does not have the bootrom exploit required to allow downgrading. At present, the only reason 4S and 5 users save shsh blobs is just in case the dev-team does find a way for you to use them. If you restore the only option would be 6.1.4, and there is no jailbreak for that.
 
And if you don't have another sim handy right now, use SAMprefs to deactivate your current sim. Don't bother even opening the sim tray, just plug the phone into iTunes and it will reactivate. It *should* give you the "Congratulations, your phone is unlocked" message at that point.

Did this with an iPhone5 this week after using SwiftUnlocks to unlock it. It took longer to add the repo for SAM & download the tweak than it did to deactivate & reactivate. No restore necessary, didn't even leave the phone plugged in long enough to sync.

This looks like what I want, but when I try with my (legit, carrier) SIM it doesn't work. I press the "De-Activate iPhone (clear push)" button and then "attempt activation" button, and it resets my phone fine, but I don't get anything from iTunes. Do I have to use a non-active SIM for iTunes to recognize the activation this way? I don't have another SIM in micro-SIM size right now, although I could probably find an old one and cut it down.

I didn't try to attempt activation via SAM, so I'm not sure how or if that works.

My exact steps (based on others' experiences found in this forum) were:

Download SAM
Open SAMPrefs & hit Deactivate button. Closed SAMPrefs.
Open iTunes. Plug in phone.
The phone activated without further input from me, and the Congratulations message appeared in iTunes.

That was it. I never so much as opened the sim tray. My original AT&T sim was in the phone the entire time. I don't currently have another sim to activate with, and figured I'd try this route first instead of going down to T-Mobile to pick up one of theirs.

My understanding is that not everyone sees the message in iTunes, for whatever reason, and that if you don't, trying another carrier's sim is the best way to make sure you're unlocked. I'd certainly pay my $10 or so to TMobile for a new sim & try that before trying a restore--sucks to lose a JB when it shouldn't be necessary.

Yeah, that did it, just didn't see a message in iTunes for whatever reason. Supposed to be unlocked now but I guess I'll test another SIM to make sure. Thanks for the step by step.
