Hello,

I'm looking to build an old computer from parts and place it on the same desk as my iMac 2010 but have no room for the speakers (barely enough room for the additional CRT monitor). So I'm wondering if it's somehow possible to connect a cable of some sort from the old PC sound card so that it transfers sound to the iMac speakers

I expect that this should be very easy.

Use the 3.5mm headphone jack input on the back of the iMac, and then choose the sound input source in the Sound System Preferences. You might have to make sure that Playthrough is on, but I think that's the default these days.

Does that work?

Cheers, A.

Does such a cable exist? A 3.5mm on both ends? If so, what is the name of it?
