ok so I've been searching online but seem to find a lot of conflicting info so I'm just gonna ask here. i have a 4,1 flashed to 5,1, installed an rx580 and I'm running mojave. I was thinking about trying to set up windows on bootcamp but it seems a pain switching back and forth without the boot screens which you lose when you remove the stock card so my question is this, is it possible to run the rx580 and the stock card (radeon hd 4870) side by side in the mac pro so i can still have boot screens? i have plenty free pci slots but the card has 2xmini 6 pin connectors which were originally plugged into the sockets that my rx580 is now plugged into so i guess the first issue is gonna be powering it and the second issue that I'm wondering is that if i could fit it and power it would it work in the way i had hoped to restore boot screens or would the cards conflict? anyone tried this?

Works relatively fine up to High Sierra, don't work anymore with Mojave. Mojave don't work correctly with an unsupported GPU a long side a supported one.

Lot's of people have this same idea, try to implement it and no one get it working reliably. Please use the search before opening new threads, I answered the exactly same question yesterday.

Use OpenCore to have pre-boot configuration support with a RX 580.
