Possible to transfer iPhone # to a prepaid phone?

So I am not upgrade eligible until 2011 but I want the iPhone 4 real bad.

It seems that jailbroken 3GS phones are going for $400-$500 this week and I want to unload my 3GS asap.

Question: Is it possible to transfer your iPhone AT&T phone # to a prepaid phone? I'd do this temporarily until I could get an iPhone 4.

Yes, you can put your sim card into any prepaid phone and use it for now.

You could sell it without the SIM, and just pop the SIM in the prepaid. Would you have to activate the prepaid first? I'd like to know this too.

You want to use your post paid SIM card in an AT&T phone that came with a pre paid SIM account?

Yes, that will work. Any AT&T SIM will work in any AT&T phone.
