I have an iPad Air 2 that is currently on iOS 10.3.2, but it's in restore mode. I need to update it to iOS 14, as I have several Apps that will NOT run on anything newer than 14. I have attempted to do it through iTunes by downloading an .ipsw file, but I keep getting errors that say it can't be restored. Is there another software tool other than iTunes that I can use to upgrade the firmware to iOS 14.2 or 14.3? I don't care if the process wipes the data on it as I have a backup I can restore to it, but I need to find a way to get iOS 14 on it. Thanks :)

iPad Air 2 supports up to iOS 15.7. I'm guessing it's not working because iOS 14 is no longer signed by Apple. *Edit* Oh, I see now that you need it to be iOS 14. You'll have to jailbreak. I'm not sure how to, unfortunately.

I don't know anything about jailbreaking, if you do that can you still run normal iOS Apps?

It's not possible to jailbreak a device on any given version of IOS, so you might be unable to do it anyway, but you can check online if the air 2 can be jailbroken on 10.3.2

You're positive the apps you need to use won't work on iOS 15? Maybe you can test them on another iOS device before updating?

A jailbreak won’t solve this. There’s no way to put any version of 14 on an iPad Air 2 at this point. 15.7 is the only installable version of iPadOS at this time.

Yes, I have several iPad Pros that these apps won't work on, iOS 15 broke them. I have 1 Pro that still runs 14.2 and they still work on it, that's why I was trying to set this Air 2 up on 14, so I would have a backup for these apps.
