My sister has an old Windows 8.1 machine with thousands of photos she never migrated over to Apple when she made the switch years ago. What's the easiest way to get those photos into Apple Photos (i.e., iCloud), preferably without transferring them to a Mac first? Thanks very much.

You could transfer them to a shared network drive or a USB drive, then plug that into your Mac and import them from there.

Thanks. There's no Windows to iCloud option? I know nothing about Windows but thought I've read that iCloud was supported on it, although I'm not sure as of which version of Windows. Thanks again.

If you have a USB drive handy, transferring photos with that would likely be much faster than uploading to iCloud.

You mean uploading via Windows is very slow? I probably wasn't clear enough in the OP, but she wants the photos in iCloud, since she only has an iPhone and iPad. Thanks.
