Possible to use T-Mobile data on 1st Gen iPhone

Have an unlocked and jailbroken iPhone on T-Mobile's network. T-Mobile officially supports the iPhone, i just don't know if cellular data plan will work if i spring for it. Their techs can't give me a straight answer. They also claim that 3G is voice only and is not used for data. Idiots. Any ideas?
 
All iPhones can use T-Mobile's EDGE data network.

As T-Mobile's 3G network uses frequencies that no iPhones support, you can't use their 3G network at all.
