Hello
Can anyone possibly answer a few questions i have having recently upgraded my OS from 10.6.8 to El Capitan 10.11.8 ? I do hope so.

1. Can i use the Time Machine backup made (using 10.6.8) prior to the El Capitan upgrade to restore my data?

2. If i do the Restore will it simply restore my Folders and Data without overwriting El Capitan? Never carried out a Restore so being cautious.

3. I notice that when i open Finder that one of my Folders is missing. Will the Restore process bring it back?

Presently i have the following on the left-hand sidebar:

All My Files
iCloud Drive (New)
Applications
Desktop
Documents
Nick (this Folder is missing)
Downloads

Kind regards

I think you mean 10.11.6, as El Capitan never went past that.

The best and safest way to upgrade from Snow Leopard is to simply install El Capitan over top of Snow Leopard. No restore needed that way. But Migration Assistant should work fine to get your data on there, since you've already installed El Capitan.

You're essentially doing things backwards.
