Just updated here. First two things I've noticed: I still don't like the new typeface, since trying to get used to it for a while on the phone and iPad. It's really the lowercase that does my head in - the changes in uppercase are way more subtle. Indeed I needed it to be pointed out that the key caps on the rMB are using the new typeface otherwise I might never have noticed. But whatever, I'm sure it will become the new normal soon enough.
Second thing I noticed: really a very immediate and appreciable boost in speed and snappiness especially in safari. Switching between tabs, scrolling - it's all remarkably faster. Especially noticed this on the editor page for my squarespace site - it's very noticeably faster and more reactive. Nice. I think there's a similar improvement in switching between apps too. So generally I guess it feels like a lean performance-oriented update like snow leopard was, way back when.
So far nothing seems broken, but I literally just installed it this evening. Will report back if anything apps are busted up.
Oh and not to brag, but the over 6GB download took less than 9 minutes here...

I've been using El Capitan beta since the second day I bought my rMB. When I first got my 1.1 Ghz rMB, I noticed that animations in Yosemite were a bit choppy and I didn't like the experience. So I opted to download El Capitan beta, and it was extremely smooth since then. Went to El Capitan final release today, and all is well. I get around 8 hours of battery life, which is more than fine. No issues with Office 2016 for me.
OK first bump in the road: Xtra finder stopped working, a quick google search showed there's an updated version apparently just for El Capitan.. downloaded and installed but it just doesn't launch at all. Minor issue for me as it's not an app I really depend on, probably will get it to work with a few restarts and some further investigation. But there you go, one thing that went off the rails so far. To be fair though, any kind of apps that mess around with basic OS things like finder hacks are usually the first things that don't work when there's an OS update..
The only reason why I am not installing it is because it crashes on Outlook 2011 which I need for work. Unfortunately Microsoft screwed the people who are still on Exchange Server 2007 and it does not work with both the Windows and OSX version of Office 2016!
Yep I always wait quite some time until upgrading on my mission critical machines. But my rMB is my personal machine so it's the perfect testbed for me to do updates right away, precisely to see if they break anything. So far though, it seems to be a really great booster for the rMB, it's working really well.
Re Xtra Finder, turns out it's the software itself that needs to be updated, not really an OS bug. I've found many people online who have also found it just doesn't work with El Capitan. Ironically, the latest version of it was compatible with the El Capitan beta, just not the official released version.
In any case, the only thing I used it for was to have the column sizes automatically expand to fit full files names when in column view in the finder.. I really hate it when you have to widen the view yourself every single time you want to see the full names of files and folders. If anyone knows of any other finder hack apps that do this, fire away..

Excellent first impressions here ... Safari is noticeably more responsive, and much faster in the visual elements, especially scrolling. This is something that really bugged me in Yosemite, very happy that this is fixed. Assuming this is the result of the new "Metal" graphics framework.
Find my friends in the notification area is cool. Split screen is very cool. Everything is just ... super cool so far.
Haven't noticed anything negative yet.
I like the idea of the new System Integrity Protection feature ... meaning: I can't screw up permissions on vital parts of the system, other apps can't screw up these permissions, and no more permissions repair option because it's not necessary anymore.

I actually don't like that repair permissions is gone. It made me feel like there was something I could do if things weren't working... Now I'll have to find another button to press to make me feel like I'm doing some kind of magic system maintenance...

Just do system reinstalls. It’s what people do on iOS too!
