Curious if it’s a good idea to disable Scene Detection in Camera settings if I edit most of my mobile photos in Lightroom.

The idea being, I’m reducing the amount of automatic image processing in favor of my own.

Curious if anyone has experimented with this, and what you would advise.

If I plan to edit a photo in LR, I use the LR app to shoot raw. Then I can do whatever I want with the image. Is the Scene Detection thing in the native photo app? I've never heard of it, but I am still using an 8+, so maybe it's in the newer phones.

If you're using Lightroom the idea is not to use any processing while taking the picture. Do it all in post.

If you’re using LR CC, you may want to familiarize yourself with its camera app and read up on why it might make sense. I don’t even know where I buried Apple's camera app.

Automatically apply a tailored look to your photos

With Scene Detection, the camera intelligently detects what you're taking a photo of and applies a tailored look to bring out the best qualities in the scene. To turn this feature off, go to Settings > Camera, and turn off Scene Detection.

Scene Detection is available on iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Regarding Smart HDR, about 80% of it works in any app, but 'Smart HDR' with its full extra exposure merging will only work in the stock camera app. - Learned this from the people behind the Halide app.
