As the title says, post what you got and/or gave as presents for Christmas 2016.

Merry Christmas everyone.

I bought myself a 2016 rMB m5. It's a really decent upgrade from my 2011 11" mba. I got it for about $300 off going with a Best Buy open-box excellent certified. It had 9 charge cycles and there was not one scratch on it. The charging cable came damaged, but I got them to give me a credit for new cable. Which I declined, asked for the credit to be put on a gift card for another use, and bought an iorange-e usb-c to usb-c cable that matches the color of my rMB (space gray), has that nylon fiber that has stood way better against the crap apple coats their wires with , and was about half the price as the apple cable.

Here a photo of the 2 machines next to each other. I sold the air recently.

In a coffee shop.
And change it to holidays if we are going to be P.C. o_O

I think there is a distinction to be drawn between what you appear to think is 'political correctness' and what is actual correct and precise language. They may overlap but they are not identical.

In any case, if the OP wishes to discuss gifts given - as well as gifts received - he (or she) should make that clear in their thread title. There is nothing "PC" about a suggestion that merely recommends clarity of expression in a thread title, which will make it easier for those reading it to know what it is all about.

I bought myself a new MacBook Pro 2016. This is the base model. I was gonna get the 2015 MacBook Pro, but I think I got a pretty good deal on the 2016 MP. I purchased it from B&H for $1349, NO sale tax, PLUS parallels for Mac for free. Not bad at all considering a coworker bought his from Apple and paid $1600 for the same computer! so I saved about $250! Merry Christmas :D

I have four kids. You don't want to spend the time reading the list.

BUT MY MOMMA GOT ME A BADASS SONY SRS-XB2 SPEAKER. I completely forgot my bluetooth speakers broke and I like to listen to music while I doof and shower, so I'm excited to have it. This thing puts out better than some full sized systems I've heard.

Thanks MOM!!!

I'm so jealous, really wish I could do this. Christmas is the most annoying and stressful holiday by far
Well if I told you why we didn't do Christmas this year I'm sure you'd not be jealous at all.

Ha, well I'm selfish ;) Man I couldn't pick what to post that I gave. This thread made me realize I didn't have a favorite gift I gave. I was just happy to give useful things to deserving people.

Thanks. It already helped me push a doozy out:eek:

Ha gosh I suck at emojis. I don't know which one best represents me being a smart ass, and which one represents me someone going "EEEEEEW"!

I can't stand the rampant consumerism. This Christmas seasons ruined TWO holidays for me: Thanksgiving and Christmas. I barely finished a nice Christmas dinner before folks wanted to go shopping...again. Next year I'm giving out Irish Sunglasses to anyone who leaves the table to get in some early shopping.:mad:

One more thing, Santa Claus is a jerk. He works only ONE day a year and has the audacity to judge us. And he give out the best present to the rich people.o_O:p:D

Have you messed wih any other sony ones?
I have the Sony srs-x33 and the Sony srs-X11 and it's been dying quicker and quicker so due for a new one.

As for me my parents ordered me a dining room table set, coffee and end table set and a lot of cleaning supplies for me and my girlfriend for our new apartment.

As for giving I only got gifts for my girlfriend since I can hardly afford that, but she is at her internship at Disney world and gets back January 3rd, so will get to celebrate or Christmas then!

Actually, no. I'm a musician and engineer so I don't use wireless speakers much and have always been bias against Sony. They have a couple of pairs of great headphones but I didn't want Sony. SO when I opened this, I was like "awwww man... Sony...". Turned it on and was impressed like a mother. Still hate Sony as a company and I have my reasons, but I will be keeping this for a long time. Used it a lot today. If it died, I'd probably either buy the same one, or just go with another brand.

I have always wanted a Bose but too far out of my price range, so was debating on another Sony lol

Our family stopped the presents about 5 years ago-they were getting too expensive with 8 adults and there arent any little kids around to make it fun. We donate a ton of stuff to Goodwill and have a big load to take there this week.

Drove down to California for Christmas supper with the family, since we only get to see Mom 2ce a year. No offense, but CA drivers on I5 - ick! (We used to live in Cupertino)

Husband and I bought ourselves an upgraded home network - new satellite dish, router, Apple TV4, a 16T NAS, my 13" MBP, the LG 4K, a Ubuntu XPS13 for my husband. He also bought a 'scary black gun' lol (/sarcasm) that we havent shot yet (which we can do right off of our deck)

One of the main things I give my parents every year are coffee cups. The Starbucks mugs this year were pretty nice.

I also gave them clothes and tools.

My brother gave me the lightning EarPods from his new iPhone 7's box. :p

Received: Was pretty stoked! First game console since PS2 like 15 years ago. The graphics have improved somewhat. ;)

PS: Sony's "Jet Black" is quite different than Apple's. :p

Gave: I purchased my mother a new recliner ($632) with extra back support since she can barely walk once the evening gets here. I've never spent that much at the holidays and really couldn't' "afford" to, but I have a soft spot for mother. :)

But casual gifts for the family are too expensive!? I jest! :p

I wish that my family would just stop gifts (outside of immediate mother-father whom I will always buy for). We have 20 adults (can't stand family "get togethers") and play a forced game of white elephant gifts. So I use my money to buy some useless crap in exchange for something useless that I will throw away. That's wasteful. And last game I paid $30 for a decent gift and got a pregnancy test as a gag (I'm a single male by the way, so extra useless). I laughed with everyone else until I realized there was nothing else in the bag, then I got annoyed. AND THEY RIPPED OFF THE COUPON FROM THE PACKAGE TO BUY IT! So I couldn't even salvage the $2 pharmacy coupon.
