Please make sure you include your name as it appears on your credit card (or debit card), the three-digit security number from the back of the card, the expiration date, and the full 16 (or 15) digit credit card number.

No, I'm joking. Please DON'T post any of the above information here, or anywhere else. If you do, you're an idiot.

What's the point of the security number anyway? If someone's going to copy down your number, it'd be trivial to copy an additional 3 digits.
Well, it's not printed on receipts, so I guess it makes it a BIT tougher to reuse someone else's credit card number.

Yeah but you have to see both sides of the card, and can't just see it in your wallet.

For one thing, it's only used for "card not present" transactions like internet and phone purchases. It is not encoded in the magnetic strip, so an unscrupulous merchant who has only your swipe data can't use it for card not present transactions.

Also, the terms of agreement with the card issuer forbids online merchants from storing that info after the transaction goes through. So if their database of customers is compromised, the thieves won't be able to make "card not present" transactions with the stolen data.

Well as someone who works from HOME and who takes phone orders for a WIDE RANGE of companies.. People give this info to me everyday, willingly. Including socials....

I often wonder if they realize i am collecting their personal info in the privacy of my own home .. totally unsupervised.. and wearing my sponge bob pj's?

LOL..

I bet you will think twice about putting in phone orders from now on? won't you?
