Is your dock on the bottom or the side?
Bottom, I tried using it on the side but, it never stick, even when I was using Ubuntu, I always removed it from the side.

I have 16" MBP but, I am so used to have my Dock hidden that I pretty sure I will do the same thing on an iMac.
Also I always make it small and use Magnification.

How many people put the dock to the left or right? Just curious
I see the benefit of all the dock positions. It's really just up to personal preference and workflow. I've moved mine around over the years but when I have it on the side I usually go left, as I did in the early days of OSX on widescreens. People from the NeXTSTEP days probably prefer the right, and right dock also leaves the trash can in the classic Mac OS position. I've always felt the left side just balances better with the folders and such on the right side and I use CMD+Del to delete files rather than drag and drop. When I keep it on the bottom it's hidden because I'm always on a laptop these days and vertical space is at a premium.

For those of us that hide the dock:

Code:
defaults write com.apple.dock autohide-delay -float 0; killall Dock

is a great timesaver, making the dock show immediately upon the cursor touching the edge.
