I just discovered the 16e doesn’t support DisplayPort alt mode through the USB-C port.

If Apple finally enables a way to use the iPhone connected to an external monitor in a ā€œdocked modeā€ on iOS 19 or 20, I think I’ll want to have that DisplayPort capability on my iPhone…

I was thinking about getting the iPhone 17e or maybe even the 18e once it gets the jump to 2nm, but if this feature is still missing… maybe I’ll want a full fledged iPhone 17 or 18.

However, if you don’t care about this possible, hypothetical feature, then enjoy, the 16e is a great value.

I have to say I’ve never heard of that feature! lol. I’m never going to use it šŸ˜„

Damn man you live in paradise.

May I ask, the third picture starting from top to bottom, has been edited or modified either with the photos app or with snapseed or lightroom or any other software?

I used the photos app to make the green leaves pop with a little more saturation as the sun went behind a cloud.

And I hope Apple will finally enable on iOS 19 or 20 a ā€œcoffee modeā€ so my iPhone can finally can make my coffee in the morning. :)

The iPhone is not a coffee machine.

The iPhone is a pocket computer.

But yeah, I’m not sure either about those rumors saying iOS 19 will allow decking it like an iPad. What I do believe is that Stage Manager is coming to the iPhone in some form, at least for the foldable devices being released next year.

The name of the device implies what it is... iPhone is first and foremost a phone and not a pocket computer.

The internal parts and electronics were damaged by water ingress. If Apple couldn’t fix it when I went into store then I doubt anyone would be able to fix it. It went into the bin.
Enjoying reading your 16e experiences & seeing photos from it šŸ™‚

But please tell me "It went into the bin" means a 'small electronics recycling bin' at a retailer (e.g. B&Q), or given to Apple for responsible recycling?

Thank you 😁

It went into the recycling bin, yes! Not my general waste bin šŸ‘šŸ»šŸ˜

Sorry to come back on this, but for others reading this thread – in many places in the UK you cannot recycle small electronics via kerbside waste collections, and adding items containing lithium ion batteries to regular green recycling bins can pose a fire hazard when the waste is collected/compacted. Plus, the rare earth metals and other elements of such devices need to be safely extracted for reuse.

How is the situation where you are (is it Cumberland)?

EDIT to add this recycling resource: https://www.recycleyourelectricals.org.uk/

I think the 16e pictures look better than most of my 15 pro max pictures, although I’ll readily admit I am not great at taking photos, and I have no clue if there are settings that could make them better. I want to point, shoot, and call it a day.

I agree, there are some awesome pics coming from the 16e!

It just goes to show that everyone buying the Pro because they "need" the best camera actually doesn't! They just need lessons in photography.

It's knowing how to take a good picture that makes the most difference.

I bought my two oldest grandkids each a 16e, and I was impressed with the pictures right away. We weren’t taking anything fancy, but just the clarity. I sometimes find my pro max overprocesses and stuff doesn’t look great.

Hey iPhone 16e users! How’s it going? I’m thrilled to hear all about the amazing photos and things you’ve shared about your new iPhones.

Guess what? I bumped into a fellow student at school who’s wearing a titanium Apple Watch Series 7 edition 45mm. And get this - he’s an Apple semiconductor technician in Asia! He works with a supplier/manufacturer of all Apple silicon and chips, including the C1 chip and A18 processor that we all know and love in our iPhones.

I’m planning to have a one-on-one interview with this Apple Watch Series 7 acquaintance (only addressing based off the watch he wears) to discuss the C1 chip and how tariffs are impacting iPhone manufacturing and prices. We’ll also talk about modem and broadband connectivity chips Apple started developing 1st party instead of Qualcomm. If you have any specific questions you’d like to ask the contracted Apple supplier, please let me know. I’ll add them to my list of topics for the interview.

Thanks a bunch, and cheers! 😊

Has anyone tried clicking the ā€œiā€ circle on some of their photos and see if they’re been shot in 24mp or 48mp?

If I’m understanding it right, the only way to set the iPhone 16e to shoot in 48mp is to navigate to Camera > Formats > and then enable Resolution Control.

Then when you are in camera app, make sure the new HEIF/MAX toggle is active and not disabled.

Who would know that this is necessary to have their camera shoot at max capacity? What an odd thing to not set to default?
