Yes, absolutely. This new year in the GLI fixed all of the small little things I wasn't a huge fan of in 2014 model.

I know arguably the difference are small, but it took it from "meh" to "wow, now i'm down"

----------

Took the GLI down to Car Toys after using the stock entertainment system, and got the Alpine ILX-007 so I can use Car Play.

The GLI is the most expensive iPhone accessory I've owned.

Pics of the installed unit?

I ordred the same model on release day and it just shipped this afternoon.

I am going to sell my 15" top-end rMBP.
I was going to get the 16GB RAM model and wait a week, but my friend and the Apple guy told me to save the $200 for something else because my uses (university homework) don't justify 16GB.

Picked up a VW GLI SEL today. Looking into getting Alpine ILX-007 installed to get a proper way to use media in the car.

DONT BUY THE ALPINE!!
I had to return mine..... The Alpine is like going back in time. ITS SO SLOW and the maps are not up to date. When the disc for the Navigation is available, you have to BUY IT FOR $399.00...
Also note- ALL your VW factory buttons WILL NOT WORK unless you buy plenty parts that are made by 3rd Party companies that are iffy at best...
I repeat, DONT BUT ALPINE.

Sennheiser hd600. Suppose to have to have flat response for mixing on headphones. We shall see about that

I'm not a huge head unit guy, but I bought this for one reason and one reason only. It's the cheapest head unit that supports Car Play. Period.

When it boots up it goes directly to Car Play. Installation was expensive, but the unit itself is actually about half the cost for the same screen size.

As of right now all of the buttons on the steering wheel work except for the Voice Command button. Luckily I found that the harness we had put in actually has a software update to fix that. I have an appointment scheduled for Tuesday to get the update done for free.

Personally, I hate in dash entertainment systems. Their services suck, and you get banished to taking your phone out of your pocket to do something as simple as finding a song to play through Bluetooth. Car vendors voice recognition is absolutely horrible.

This solution isn't perfect right now, but I was able to hit the Siri button on my unit today and "set a reminder to do a load of laundry when I get home". As soon s I pulled up my phone pinged me to do it. Thats the value I actually wanted.

If your looking for a harness to get things mapped out properly to the steering wheel I'd check out http://www.pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=1119&CategoryID=26.

The head unit, and the harness show up online far more expensive if you look at the site then if you look online. The Alpine ILX-007 I was able to get for $500. The harness I was able to get for $150.

For a Car Play setup that has been used for nothing but Car Play for the past two days I'm very happy with the price considering the Pioneer unit with the same size screen appears to go for $1000 or more online.

Hopefully that helps a bit if you are looking for a similar setup.

Forgive me for my ignorance but is that a monitor? That looks pretty nice if it's a monitor.

These days it could also be an AIO.

That really looks nice. How's the color accuracy?

In a couple months I may get one. Afraid my wife may beat me if I make any unplanned purchases before then.

Just pick one up at Best Buy and try it out. It has excellent color accuracy. I think 32 inch is the sweet spot for the 2560x1440 resolution. I've owned a Thunderbolt Display and a 27 inch iMac before and this is up there with them in term of color accuracy. I like the matte display which reduces a lot of glare. For $449 on what you get, it's an excellent value. Also the included remote is a nice touch too.

Ah so it doesn't have glass on the front? I kinda like glass. I'll check it out in store.

Problem is I got my wife a nice watch a couple years ago. Since then she has asked me to pick one out for her to get for me. I've stated for a few years instead I just want permission for us both to get Apple Watches when they inevitably come out. Now that it's out I'm calling in those many times she's asked me to pick one, and getting one for each of us has her a bit on edge with me now.

Same here (university). I have the high-end 15"rMBP at the moment and do not use even 8GB RAM, so it made sense for me to grab the 8GB model and save the $$$ for something else.

LOL. Is she expecting you to buy the Watch Edition?

My last purchase. Still feel guilty about splurging for it. So much so i haven't even opened the box yet.

Still trying to get some kinks worked out since it's an after market unit.

Overall though, I'd rather have Siri and the limited iOS apps that support Car Play on my dash at this price then twice as much with CD/DVD/AM/FM/NAV built in.

I'm curious, does the music app have iTunes Radio support? Or is it just your iTunes library in CarPlay?

New Fenix 3 saphire. Need to get some links taken out of the metal band but the rubber band is actually much better quality than Fenix 2 and really makes the watch much lighter obviously.
