Post your oldest 20th-century computer

That's right - any computer made from 2000 on just isn't old. Not in my book. So post your OLDEST computer from the 70s, 80s, 90s and let's see what we come up with. I'll start.

My oldest - a TI-99/4A ( wiki ), these went into production in the summer of 1981.

so with the lisa i have to ask did you aquire it semi recently or did you spend 10000 on it in the 1980s

My parents bought me an Apple II back in '92. Not that old but pretty old.

The oldest computer that I bought brand new (well, my parents, anyway) is an Atari 800. It's currently boxed up so I can't take any pictures.

The oldest computer I currently own is a TRS-80 Model 1 with expansion unit:

A Lisa?!? Wow! Those were crazy expensive. Mine was an iBook G3. I'm not counting the ones my parents owned or gave to me when I went off to college.

I got the Lisa 2 in September of last year actually. A guy that refurbishes them cleaned that one off and sold it to me. I paid a little over $1000 for the whole system.

The NeXTstation Turbo Color you speak of cost me $250, screen included from a refurbisher in Frederick, MD. I got it back in 2000 or so. I wrote Apple and was given all discs and docs for both NEXTSTEP v3.3 and OPENSTEP v4.2 - they did that for a while when you provided NeXT hardware serial #'s after the NeXT acquisition. The box is running NEXTSTEP v3.3.

Here's OPENSTEP v4.2 running on my MacBook Pro.

We used to have one of those TI-99s, except I think ours was the uber-rare all-black model (I think, maybe not). We also had a //gs (post-Macintosh though, so it had a color screen and a mouse an everything). We still have an LC520 in the basement, and I've got an LCII complete with monitor and case sitting next to my dead () beige G3 tower.

Also my very first computer. My mother bought it when I was 9 years old. I was in Yr 4, primary school, and was the first student in the entire school to hand in some homework which was written in a word processor on a computer!

I'm trying to remember my fave game on it, it was some kind of treasure game, like treasure cove or something.

Shame I sold it for an Amiga 500 (games)... *sigh*

Treasure Cover was the second of the series


I owned them both, and played them on my gateway 2000 in windows 3.1, although they were mac compatable.

I actually took that picture for a photo assignment on Macrumors, just figured it was a good shot for this thread.

I need to get off my butt and shoot photos of those two, my LC, 575, Quadra 840av, and a few other systems now .

I'm sure about the year because that's when my sister was born. Maybe I have the model wrong? It looked exactly like that though.

Yes, I've been debating getting one for over a year. I actually had this whole elaborate plan for a sort of Mac collection, I had the green light from my dad to convert the extra bedroom to serve this purpose. The plan never came to fruition, because I just became so busy with school work, that I really didn't have any time to plan it out. Maybe I could start this up again during winter break?

I do have a collection of Apple manuals. I like reading them. The one I'm looking at now, that came with the afore mentioned LC, has 4 pages devoted to using a mouse. It's pretty funny. "...the Macintosh uses four mouse actions: pointing, clicking, pressing, and dragging."

Ahh, 300 pages of what is now common sense.

Sorry, I tend to ramble on a lot when I'm reliving the past.
