This is the ultimate PowerPC set-up. I am in the midst of partly dedicating a room to displaying my Mac collection, and putting some Windows PCs in the corner maybe. Right now I have all my iMac G3s set up (with a duplicate left out), and I am working on the rest. I still need to clear other stuff to fit a table for my pro PowerPC Macs. However, I took pictures of all of them to show you, even the ones that are on the ground for now. I spent forever assembling five Ikea coffee tables, and have dedicated four of them to housing my iMac G3s... Major sagging of these tables is expected...:( I put a rotating/colorful LED light bulb in a lamp and have that sitting in the corner behind the G3s. I will put bright strip lighting behind them as well. I may post the finished product later, but maybe just a video of it on my YouTube channel, 'maccollectorZ'. So I have 12 iMac G3s, three 1990s PowerMacs, a PowerMac G3 B&W, a PowerMac G4, PowerMac G4 Cube x2, a PowerMac G4 Quicksilver+monitor in the box, and a PowerMac G4 MDD. I also have an iMac G4. I have several PPC laptops sitting below the surface of the G3 tables. I couldn't fit the pictures of my iMac G4, Cube, and 90s Macs. SORRY. Thanks for looking!

Damn....it looks as if u are running a CC...:p

Here is my PowerBook G4. Combined best parts from two PowerBooks into one. Only some minor scratches on the bottom and battery is missing feet (and does not hold that much charge).

That's a lot of Macs. What do you do with all of them, aside from looking at them?

A good way to fix missing feet is to put a small dot of hot glue where the foot was. Then once it's cooled a bit, flip it back over and squish it to make it flat and level.

How much is your electric bill and how did you plug all these in?

I don't have any of the iMac G3s plugged in. I haven't used many of these computers in a long time; they are just on display. The lighting strip I just put behind them consists of LEDs that use very little power. Our bill is already large due to the fact that our electric service is a rip-off, but we also have many lights in our house. We've partly standardized on LED light bulbs and they are really cool and can come in various warm colors to match the color of a traditional incandescent bulb. For example, the lighting fixture in the iMac room consists of four warm LED bulbs. While that used be 240 watts total, assuming each bulb used to be incandescent and roughly 60 watts, the LED bulbs we put in use about 7 watts each, making it use a total of 28 watts. Anyway, that was a little off-topic, but most of our electricity goes to our light bulbs since I never have these computers running. There isn't any home light bulb I can think of that uses more electricity than one of these iMacs, but most computers today use the same amount or even less power than a lower efficiency bulb.

----------

Unless they heat the room up to 80°C that is definitely not a sauna ;)

Sadly, this room is hot WITHOUT the iMac G3s on. Contributions: Room is on the top floor, it consists of a running Mac Pro and PowerMac G4, and it's carpeted. So this place is like a sauna anyway xD

I used to play with them every once in a while. I used the Graphite model at the end for homework for about a year, and the Indigo as a spare computer in one of the rooms. I obviously can't use 12 computers at once, but I would sometimes power them up and play on them. That goes for my other computers as well.

Here are updated photos with the LED strip lighting. I saw some on eBay that change colors/color patterns with a little remote. That would be cool for the other Macs I will move into this room. It's a Mac party in here!

Nice, I really want a 12-inch PBG4. I saw one go on eBay for $40 winning bid! It was the lowest-end model, but it would have been nice to get one. It's great how it's even smaller than an iBook G4.

I love my 12".. I just wish it would stay cooler xD
I've been using it for my main computer for everything (with the exception of movies and flash). The SSD was an awesome upgrade for it, and I just ordered a new battery to replace the dead one which just pulled out on me.

Hold on.. so I'm subscribed to this one guy's YouTube channel that I really enjoy, and he just uploaded this new video. As I watched it, it occurred to me he had the same setup as you did.

Does this happen to be your YT vid? Or does someone else have the exact tables, computers, and LED strips as you? xD

Haha, that's my video! I am really glad you enjoy my YouTube channel; thanks for watching! I have yet to clear out the rest of the stuff in that room to set up my other Macs. I will post a video on YouTube/post pictures of the final product on this page.

Nice! It's great that it's heavily upgraded. The value these things keep is pretty amazing. They have such a high demand for them because they still function nicely and are more advanced and nicer to use than a new Windows laptop. Maybe someday I will get my hands on one. I do have a 15 inch one from 2004, but the HD died on it. I may replace it. One of the great things about iBooks/PowerBooks are the keyboards. They have the nicest keyboards Apple has ever put into a laptop, and possibly the best laptop keyboards EVER made. I don't like newer keys as they are less ergonomic. And since Apple's new laptops have gotten thinner, they make the keys thinner as well. There isn't enough... how do I explain this?--Rebound with new Apple keyboards. The typing experience is stiff and muffled. And while new Apple laptops are really good, there is some quality to iBooks and PowerBooks that no laptop can beat.

I think it is a very cool collection that you should be very proud of! Just watch that if those light strips get hot that they don't warp or damage the iMacs' casings.

Apparently these lights get sort of warm, but that would be if I left them on for a long time. In fact, the only part that seems to get hot is the power adapter. Since these lights are fully exposed without any casing, I have made sure not to let any cords rest upon them. But yeah, they won't get close to being hot enough to damage anything. Thanks for your positive views on my collection! I am proud of what I have done to set them up. These are only 19 out of 75 computers in my collection, but I am not putting a Gateway or something on display xD.

Yeah, it's been the best laptop I've owned yet! I have to agree with you on the keyboard - pretty much anyone would. I just wish they somehow could have fit a backlight into it, that would be amazing. If you take off the keys, you can see that the letters on them are clear, just like the ones used on the 15" and 17". Speaking of PowerBooks, I was just in downtown Tacoma, (where I was taking a class) and I ran into someone with what I thought was an early MacBook Pro. It turned out to be a PowerBook, and as I walked by I commented on the quality (absolutely pristine condition, no dents or anything!) he picked up I was probably interested in them and it turned out to be the 15" 1.67 DLSD hi-res model, running Leopard. The prettiest laptop I ever saw!

Wow... That is a really rare PowerBook. Hopefully it stays in such nice condition.

Yeah, I was very impressed by it, because I had never personally seen a 15" PB, especially not the DLSD model! It was in absolutely beautiful condition. He said he only got it a few years back too. I didn't have time to talk, so I don't know much more about it. I also have no idea if he is around the area a lot, if he is I definitely want to know more about it!

Yeah. And it must have been a lot of money. The best PowerBook I have seen was a listing for one that was practically new with the box. It had been opened but never really used. I don't remember the specs/dimensions.

My Powerbook in relaxed, evening mood...
On screen is Protracker on an emulated Amiga running under E-UAE, which is currently being updated and developed specifically for PowerPC by Almos Rajnai at:

If you're interested in Amiga emulation, this guy has done phenomenal work turbo charging the old E-UAE and has breathed life into PowerPC Macs as Amiga emulators!

My ultimate PPC (and other Macs) set-up

UPDATE: I have been working a bit more on my Mac collection display. MacRumors people get the sneak peaks such as this, which I DO NOT post on my YouTube channel! :) I now have more PPC Macs in the room, but I also have started adding the older guys in. I re-arranged my iMac G3 table, as well as taking out another duplicate G3, to fit a PowerMac G4 (blue), PowerMac G3 B&W, and a G4 Cube with Studio Display & speakers(not pictured). I also added in my boxed Studio Display, which the boxed Quicksilver will soon accompany. I put in another desk (as well as a small table next to it) for my mid-2000s Apple computers. On it are two computers--my 2003 iMac G4 and my 2004 iMac G5. On the small table next to the desk is a 2004 eMac. I still have my G4 MDD on our main desk, but once my brother's Mac Pro set-up is removed, I am planning to save that half of the desk for my 1980s Macs. I may swap the mid-2000s iMacs/eMac and put the 80s Macs in their place and vice versa, but I don't know yet. The 80s table will include my original 128k Mac I just got, my 512k, Macintosh SE, and Classic II. In the middle of the room is the 5th Ikea coffee table. This houses beige 90s Macs and one late 80s Mac. On the lower shelf of the table is a PowerMac G3 minitower, my just-added Centris 650, and my PowerMac 4400/200. On top is my IIci with original monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Next to that is my PowerMac G3 tower. To the left of the tower is a 1996 Apple display with appropriate keyboard, mouse, and Apple mic. (I have two Windows laptops on the lower shelf, which cannot be seen. 1993 & 1996). Extra accessories may be displayed in various places. I don't know what to do with my 1980s portable computers, which are on the rarer side... Currently packed away in my closet, they don't have a place yet in the collection room. I have no idea where to put them. I need a display case for them though, as one is the rare Osborne Vixen portable, along with an Osborne I, Osborne Executive, Tandy TRS-80 Model 4p, Sharp PC7000, and Commodore SX 64. These are the current pictures of the collection.......I will post a final update when I have everything in order! (should be by the end of this month).
