Yep, it's up and running, byt only after a power supply kick start, with a standard household hairdryer, as you all probably know. A Cube G4, 450MHz, RAM 1GB. Both OSX 10.4.11 and OS 9.2.2 partitions available to boot from.

HDD to SSD conversion is right on schedule, has been a few years allready, adapters bought like 5 years ago. Speaker soft parts ordered from Netherlands + glue, though speakers are in working condition still. Good sound, I must say, for their age and size.

I do have a 22" Cinema for this, but the leg in it is broken. Graphics card is a GeForce2 MX 32 MB. I might have better in a box waiting, can't remember exactly.

I think I have a compatible Airport Card for this, but I don't think it can connect to any modern WiFi anymore. So just plugged in the ethernet cable. Figuring the software choices for somekind of networking..

Yeah, you guessed it, I've got an early summer vacation going on.

You can still use the old Airport Card, even if it's the original. You just have to make a few choices.

There are two ways to do this. You can either downgrade your primary router security to WPA with TKIP encryption - or - you can attach a secondary router to your main router. You assign that secondary router a static IP (or place it in Bridge mode (or some similar mode depending on the router). You'll want DHCP off. Then just use WPA security on the secondary router (with TKIP). You connect to the secondary router, not the primary.

Either way works, but I'm partial to the second one.

Thanks for comments and advice.
I've got mostly AMD graphics stuff, yes, but I've got a nVidia Geforce2 MX in that Cube though.
Now I'll go ahead and read forum advice on cube power supplys.

Next to my 17-inch late 2006 iMac. The keyboard is temporary until I finish retrobrighting the insanely yellowed matching Pro Keyboard. The speakers are temporary as well because I have the iSub system from Harman Kardon, but it's currently non-functional. So that needs to be fixed first.

The 867mhz Powermac G4 itself. It was in quite good condition when I found it in a thrift store last week (for €75, with the display, keyboard and iSub) It has a Ati Radeon 7500 which I believe isn't original. The DVD drive needed replacing but that was quickly done thanks to the help of the forums here! This beauty has been my dream computer for years and it's the best looking of the Powermac G4 line imo.

Now I'm looking for a GPU to flash (but I'm fine with this one for a while) but I already found a few candidates so I'll see how that goes (too bad I threw out all of my old Windows pc's with AGP slots a few years ago lol, but I can always borrow one)

So great. I've got an 867 933 MHz Quicksilver too. And it was in working last time I powered it up. Must have been this spring even.

That thing is loud though. Maybe not so loud than a MDD Power Mac, but still a turbine level loud thing that too?

edit. it was 933 MHz, corrected it.

It’s really loud, but I guess I’m used to that since my old Core 2 Quad rig was even louder!

Having Just moved I have finally got most of my brothers and my desks setups completed only just this morning.
My desk (1st image) has only my 2017 imac on it now, my 2013 macbook was gifted to my younger sister late last year because she desperately needed a new to her computer after hers died, and my g5 got its own desk (3rd Image). My Brothers desk (2nd image) only has his g4 20" imac and his 2016 macbook. His g4 mdd is no longer on his desk as it is destined to get its own desk setup in the game room on the opposite wall of my retro game console setup (5th image). My g4 Cube is no longer shoehorned into a bookcase but has it own desk in the living room close to its old bookcase (4th image). My only current power pc project at the moment is to see why my bothers g4 mdd is no longer powering on at all (no light on the power button or any lights in the case at all when the power button is pressed and plugged in) I am currently under the impression that the power supply has finally failed and it will have to be replaced by a new to it one. As for the macintosh performa 580 cd it will go with the mdd in the game room.

I connected to a Keyboard-mouse and monitor switch.

I have 2 PowerPC Macs.

The first is a 2005 Mac mini G4 1.25 GHz that I bought new in 2005. I used it regularly until 2016 when I replaced it with a 2014 Mac mini Intel Core i5. I recently "resurrected" it and installed Mac OS 9.2.2 on it. I have a 1 GB memory chip to replace the 512 MB memory chip currently in it, just need to set aside the time to carefully open it up. Below is my Mac mini "stack" - I have replaced the 2014 Mac mini with a 2009 Mac Pro, but the 2014 mini is still on my desktop.

The second is a 2004 PowerMac G4 1.5 GHz 17". I bought it earlier in the year and I currently have Mac OS X Tiger on it.

Neither are my main computer, but I like using both of them and I will primarily use them to play older games (Myst and Diablo on the Mac mini, Neverwinter Nights on the PowerBook). I also like the older operating systems - I never got into Macs before the initial release of OS X (briefly had a Mac clone but never used t much, can't even remember the company that made it), and I do have fond memories of the early OS X look and feel.

Nice, the 1st one with layers... I remember using it everyday on a 7200 ca 1996-7 when I worked at pre-press studio.

Hey like the nifty stands to keep them up off the floor.

2002 vintage single core 800Mhz Power Macintosh G4 'Quicksilver'. Upgraded with 1.25Gb of RAM, and 2 x 80GB HDD. Works just as well as it did brand new (though has recently had a replacement clock battery), and is in almost perfect cosmetic condition. I still have her boxes in the attic, and the original Apple Pro Mouse is in a drawer somewhere. Still in occasional use for watching the odd DVD, and used as the worlds slowest web browser. Oh, and I occasionally play Sim City 2000 on it, booted into Mac OS 9.2. She is running Mac OS X 10.4.11 as her main OS, and still happy connects to the internet using a Wifi PCI card.

I have a keyboard just like the one in your picture that I got with a used Cube that I bought back around 2004.

I no longer have the Cube, but I have used this keyboard with every Mac to this day. And I have used the 1 button Pro Mouse a lot over the same time frame. I am currently using a Logitech 2 button track ball, but I do love the simplicity and elegance of that Pro Mouse.
