I think there was another thread like this a while ago, but I cant find it. Anyway, post interesting things you bought in thrift stores!

I've found a few that I'll try to post.

First is what I believe is the Japanese version of the SNES, the Super Famicom. I got it for $5, with the AV cables. I don't even know if it works. Looks pristine. How much is that worth anyway?

Anyone else?

It probably does and I figure it will probably take the SNES cartridges we used here but from the looks of it you may have to use a screwdriver to remove the case to plug them in to play on it. the slot looks a bit different.

A Super Famicom? Not much. I think maybe $30.

To get it to work, you'd probably just need to use an adaptor to stick onto the bottom of non-Japanese version of the games. I had one that converted Japanese SNES games to the non-Japanese version. There's probably an adaptor that goes the other way.

A.A.'s thrift store/car boot sale finds

Got a nice Sony CD Walkman recently at a "Lifeline" charity shop -a D-EJ611 for $1.

What's interesting about this model is the CD Walkman uses the old Walkman logo.

Also from the same store, a Nintendo Game Boy Advance:

Got his Toshiba Portege Laptop for $50 at the W6TRW swap meet here in Redondo Beach, CA. (One of the most awesome places anywhere to find virtually anything tech-related for sale cheap).

I thought I might have to spend some time fixing it up, but I turned it on and it booted right up, running XP. Works great, weighs about 3 lbs. Perfect for a small writing laptop.

I had one of those from a thrift store too, for maybe $7 in '05 or so I dropped it in school though. I believe they were the first CD Walkman model. Previously, they were branded 'Discman,' until the whole portable line consolidated.

Nice! I purchased several PowerBooks before (vintage). I was given a 1400cs in 03 as my first Laptop by a thrift store. I resist urges to pick every laptop I see in those.

Got a Aiwa XP-EV500 portable CD player for $1.

Like Sony's CD Walkman models it has bass boost and anti-shock protection-instead of being known as "MEGA BASS" and G-Protection, on Aiwa cd players these are known as :
DSL (Dynamic Super Loudness)
On the XP-EV500, this is 2 stage
E.A.S.S. GP
